The latest company to hop onto the smartwatch bandwagon is Scania – yes, the truck making company from Sweden. It has unveiled the Scania Watch, its very first offering in this space, which is targeted at truck drivers, as you might expect.

The device is in fact a rebranded Sony SmartWatch 3, but it does feature some interesting software additions (as well as promises for much more to come in the future). This might make it more appealing to truck drivers than any other smartwatch out there. Read more »

Asus’ first Android Wear-based smartwatch is going to finally make it to the UK later this month, after it became available in the US in November. The ZenWatch will be yours to grab starting on December 23, so it could make for a very last minute present for someone (or yourself).

If you want to buy one, you’ll initially only be able to do so from Currys and PC World, since apparently these two retailers have nabbed an exclusive on the watch. The price you’ll need to pay for it will be £200. Read more »

After showcasing an exquisite Apple device yesterday it is only natural to give high-rolling Android fans a fair portion of attention. Geneva-based jeweler Savelli has apparently rolled out its second line of luxury smartphones, after entering the market last year with its $244,000 Emerald Night handset.

For this year’s offering the company has teamed up with colored gemstone miner Gemfields to bring users a new collection, named Savelli Ruby Limited Edition. The PS4 Remote Play app allows owners PlayStation 4 and Xperia devices to use the portable device as a wireless screen for their gaming console. That neat trick is reserved for certain Sony Androids, though with a little help from XDA Developers you can now lift that restriction.

The ported app requires Android 4.4 KitKat or later (Lollipop is a bit more difficult to set up), a PlayStation 4 (obviously), while a 5GHz router is recommended. Read more »

The Huawei Honor 6 Plus hit markets just a few hours ago and met its rumored release date. The hype is growing around the new smartphone and primarily because of its unique dual-camera design, which is said to give the HTC One (M8 Eye) a run for its money. The device is offering variable aperture shooting – a real rarity among today’s smartphones.

Google is giving away a copy of Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring for free on the Google Play Store. If you have a Google account with your credit card information in it (it’s necessary, even if the movie is free) you can download the HD version of the movie for free for a limited time.

There is not much to say about the movie as it would be rare to find someone who hasn’t heard about it or the subsequent two movies and the books they are all based upon. There is also the lesser known fourth Hobbit book (or first, to be chronologically accurate), which was made into three movies, the third and final part of which is now playing in theaters right now, which is probably what prompted this sale. An update to the Pebble Android beta app brought actionable notifications to the smartwatch. Version 2.3 of the beta app is available to users with devices running Android 4.0 and up.

Many months after it launched for iOS and Android, Angry Birds Stella has today become available for Windows Phone. As you may have expected, it’s a free download, but does feature in-app purchases.

Pushbullet has been pretty great even before today’s update, letting you see your Android notifications on your PC, Mac, or Chrome OS device. But it’s now added what has to have been one of the most requested features – the ability to quickly act on those notifications.

Sure, you’ve been able to dismiss a notification from your computer – and it would disappear from your Android device. Now though, on your computer, you can see and use those ‘quick actions’ that show up underneath Android notifications on your phone or tablet. Read more »

Today is a big day for fans of Instagram, as it has received its first new filters in two years. The app now boasts five additional filters you can choose from, and it’s also gotten a couple of usability improvements as well.

It appears that it is never too early to reimagine a fashion accessory, as the prestigious company recently published a diamond-covered version of the Apple wearable on their Facebook page. The exquisite device is up for preorder with delivery dates set for the middle of 2015. The smart piece of Apple-powered jewelry is priced at $30,150, which coincidentally is around the price of an entry-level Chevrolet Camaro, but put into the right perspective sounds like a good deal. Skype announced a new promotion today for its users in India. For a limited time up until March 1, 2015 (00:01 IST) all new and current Skype users in the fast-growing India market will be able to benefit from the offer. Interestingly enough calls can be both personal and business, but certain limitations do apply to prevent abuse of the service.
