Microsoft has started shipping slightly faster version of the Surface Pro 2 last month without any official announcement. The change was noticed by some customers who purchased the device recently.
How big is the change? Not much, it seems. The base model that shipped with an Intel Core i5-4200U clocked at 1.6GHz is now clocked at 1.9GHz. The more expensive 4300U model also gets an unspecified amount of clock speed boost along with Intel’s Trusted Execution Technology. Read more »
Another interesting Windows 8.1-powered slate is coming very soon, considering ASUS has already uploaded the device’s user manual on its website. It’s the VivoTab Note 8 with IPS display, a quad-core processor and a stylus.

The free Windows 8.1 update was released on October 18 and since then adoption has been growing steadily. Yet the number people who went through with the update is still less than half of Windows 8 users. Windows 7 continued to grow too and, surprisingly, so do Vista numbers.

LG has announced new models of Tab-Book 2, Ultra PC and All-in-One (AIO) PC. The devices will be officially unveiled at CES 2014 next year.

After waiting what seemed like decades before producing its first Windows tablet Nokia went with the 10.1″ Lumia 2520, but that still left a compact tablet-sized hole to fill.
Turns out that Nokia is working on just such a device and, according to import documents from India, a device codenamed RX-115 has an 8.3″ FullHD IPS touchscreen, nanoSIM slot and is already undergoing testing. Read more »

Acer has officially unveiled a new all-in-one PC, dubbed as Aspire Z3-600. The latest addition to the Aspire series comes with a touchscreen and kickstand and aims to become one of the best portable tablet in its class.

The PC market as defined by analyst firm Canalys – desktop computers, laptops and tablets (devices with 7″+ screens) – is experiencing a major shift. The firm predicts that next year, tablets will make up half of the total PC market. And the PC market is growing (despite the declining shipments of desktops and laptops) thanks to a huge spike in tablet sales.
Tablets are almost there already – in the third quarter this year they accounted for 40% of the PC market and the shipments in terms of units was a hair short of the shipment numbers of laptops. Read more »
