The Google I/O event, where we get to hear about all things Google, is set to start at the end of next month.
The real highlight, as always, will be the keynote. While this is not an event dedicated entirely to Android, we do expect to hear quite a lot about the Google’s mobile OS. Read more »
Did you know there was a site called iphone5.com as far back as 2008? Weird (or really forward thinking), considering that’s when only the second iPhone – the 3G – was announced. That site wasn’t owned or operated by Apple though – it used to be a forum with a ton of ads.
After filing a complaint with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), Apple did win the rights to the domain though, WIPO’s decision just went through. Read more »
Every one of us uses e-mail each day. But what happens when we hit that Send button? Google has been kind enough to take us through the process of how mail travels and in the mean time show everybody just how green and eco-minded the company is.
Using its interactive HTML5 website, Google has made it entertaining, informative and quite easy to understand their power usage, no matter how technically advanced you are. Read more »
We all know a biopic based on the life of Steve Jobs is already being made and that Ashton Kutcher has been cast to play Jobs due to Kutcher’s remarkable resemblance to him back when he was young.
TMZ has now acquired photographs of Kutcher on the sets of the movie (which is reportedly being called ‘Jobs: Get Inspired’) dressed in Jobs’ famous blue Levi’s jeans and black turtleneck, which was originally designed by Issey Miyake exclusively for Jobs. And all of this strikes me as a bit odd. Read more »
A lucky YouTube user got his hands on a Nokia 808 PureView and to our delight focused on its camcorder abilities instead of its imaging skills.
He shot a series of video clips at different scene modes with the Nokia 808 PureView and a tripod, and patched them into one clip using the Sony Vegas editing software. Read more »

Google has been so obsessed with speed that it has invented its own networking protocol designed to replace the good ol’ HTTP.

Motorola has just won an injunction against Microsoft in Germany. The ban covers the Xbox 360 console, the Windows 7 OS, Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player.
As you probably guessed, the suit was over patent infringement – Motorola claims Microsoft has infringed about 50 of its patents and demands billions in compensation. Meanwhile, Moto will have the right to ban the products using the questioned patents. Read more »
Samsung’s advertising has been pretty aggressive, especially against rival Apple. They even mocked the infamous long lines of people queuing to grab their next iGadget. Samsung Australia actually pulled a stunt where they offered Galaxy S II phones for $2 right outside of Apple’s store. So, when a video of a flashmob waiving signs and chanting “Wake up!” showed up in front of an Australian Apple store, everyone (including us) jumped to the assumption that it was the South Korean company that organized it.
Except now Samsung Australia is denying that they had anything to do with it. Read more »
Putting a smartphone on a helium balloon and having it fly high up in the sky has proven a popular pastime (there was even an iPad that braved the high altitudes), but it turns out serious scientist do it too as low-cost observation tools. The ASTRA project at South Hampton university has a thing for Windows Phone handsets and the latest was a Nokia Lumia 800.
As part of the ASTRA 10 series of flights, a Lumia 800 soared as high as 32km with nothing to help it face the cold or maintain connectivity. And conditions high up in the atmosphere are pretty rough. Read more »
Yesterday Google launched its Drive cloud service allowing you to upload virtually anything and have it synced across multiple devices. Sounds great and bringing a bit more competition to the mix has never hurt anyone.
But what happens once you store there that music piece you’ve been working on for so long? Or the concept art for that cool project at work? Do you still remain its owner and what do you allow the cloud storage provider to do with it? Google, Microsoft and Dropbox have different approaches how they handle the legal part of things and it isn’t something to be taken lightly. Read more »
Microsoft has announced its Q3 financial results and things are looking bright for the software giant. The record-breaking revenue for the quarter ending on March 31, 2012 was $17.41 billion, representing a 6% growth over the same period of 2011.
Additionally, the operating income saw a 12% boost compared to last year and reached $6.37 billion. Net income was $5.11 billion ($0.60 per diluted share), which is actually slightly lower than it was in the holiday quarter, but this doesn’t make Steve Ballmer any less optimistic about the future.. Electricity-driven vehicles are great. They hug trees and save polar bears like nothing else, but they have one major flaw. They are almost perfectly quiet. Thus, they threaten pedestrians and other motorists, which might not hear them approaching.
To work around this, Domino’s Pizza has created what it calls a “Safe Sound” box, which is placed on their pizza delivery electrical scooters . And the result? Hilarity ensues on the streets of the Netherlands. Read more »
