Amazon lets iOS users buy MP3s directly from Safari

Apple is notorious for not letting competing ecosystems expand their services on its turf by demanding 30% of in-app sales and generally making those services jump through hoops to even get to be on iOS.

Google brings music matching to Google Play in the US

After the European launch last month, Google is now bringing the music match feature for the folks in the US. If you don’t know how this works, the service scans your local library and then adds those track to your online Google Play library so you can stream them later from anywhere.

This feature was already available on both iTunes and Amazon’s music service. Both these services are paid. Apple and Amazon charge $24.99 per year, which is not a bad deal when you consider what you’re getting but Google is offering an even better deal, where it’s free of cost, at least for the first 20,000 songs. Nokia’s Scalado acquisition continues to pay off as the company just announced the PhotoBeamer app. The software is exclusive app to the Lumia 920 and Lumia 820 and allows you to stream photos quite easily.

New Skype for iOS lands in the Apple App Store, adds Microsoft account support

A new Skype 4.2 version is now available in the Apple’s App Store for all the iPhones, iPads and iPods Touch running on iOS 4.3 or later.
