iPhone 4 dashes ahead of the Nikon D90, becomes the most popular camera on Flickr

by 38 comments

If you watched Apple’s latest keynote, you may remember Scott Forstall mentioning that the iPhone 4 is the second most popular camera on Flickr. Well, not any more.

That’s because it has just beat the Nikon D90 in becoming the most popular camera on Flickr of all time. Camera, not camera phone. Read more »

What’s the deal with the Nokia N9 secondary camera?

by 81 comments

The Nokia N9 announcement was understandably greeted with quite a lot of excitement, but it appears that one of the features of the smartphone didn’t get the attention it deserves. From the official photos it appears that the N9 packs a front-facing camera at the most unusual of places – the bottom right corner of the front panel.

Yet the official specifications on the Nokia developers website fail to mention a front-facing camera. What’s even more confusing is that none of the few dozens of previews that were published today mentions it. This could of course be explained with the relatively little importance of the feature, but still someone should have said something about it. Read more »

Nokia N9 first live photos surface, ooze with sexiness

by 583 comments

The Nokia N9 was only announced this morning, but previews have already began to appear online. The MeeGo smartphone has been absolutely loved by everyone who got a chance to try it and it appears that it will be worth its flagship position.

The Nokia N9 polycarbonate unibody is looking pretty hot as you can see from the photos and the performance seems good worthy of a flagship device too. Plus, the 3.9″ AMOLED of FWVGA resolution is reportedly looking as impressive as it gets. Read more »

Nokia launches new music accessories for N9, uses NFC sorcery to make life easier

by 234 comments

Nokia just announced the MeeGo-based N9 smartphone and I must say it is the best thing I’ve seen from Nokia so far. But they didn’t stop at just the phone. They also have a few new accessories for the phone, two of which make use of the NFC technology.

Now the NFC tech isn’t something new. Google has been demoing it for some time now. But Nokia has gone ahead and dome something a lot more useful and practical with it Read more »

HTC ChaCha pays us a visit, we offer you to see our first dance on video

by 52 comments

Compact bar plus QWERTY keyboard plus Android 2.3 Gingerbread plus HTC Sense plus Facebook key equals HTC ChaCha. This is the shortest possible equation to describe one of our new guest today – the socially-oriented HTC ChaCha.

It’s a good looking and quite capable little droid with a great landscape QWERTY keyboard. We have to admit it’s the first HTC smartphone in a long time to break the line of boring designs. Read more »

It seems like Samsung Galaxy S II has a new advertising team, see why [VIDEO]

by 395 comments

This latest Samsung ad that I am about to show you is pretty cool and miles ahead of the last one, which practically was a total fail. You know, the one with the Tron crowd running into a single and a dual tunnel, showcasing the direct effects of dual-core power – with the Durex ad styling but worse?

Yeah, that one. Well this new one is way cooler and shows a young man doing incredible stuff with his hands and prompts us to “unleash” our own.

The art, practiced by this fellow is apparently called Tutting and is a form of street dance. In this case the body parts in focus are the arms. It’s cool and you should watch it. Here it goes. Read more »

New top-secret photo-sharing Facebook app for the iPhone looks cool, could bring your social networking on iOS to a whole new level

It seems as though Facebook is in the making of a new app for iOS with some photo-sharing capabilities. Everyone who has used Facebook on his/hers iOS device knows that uploading a picture to the social network takes some extra unnecessary steps. Well this new super-secret app will supposedly give all of us the cure.

The guys over at TechCrunch are in possession of 50MB worth of insider photos and docs on this secret project and have kindly shared one with the world. That would be the one below. They say that much more is still to come, when they eventually sort all of it out. We’ll keep track to update should new developments become available. Read more »

Nokia X7-00 drops by for a visit, Symbian Anna looks good on a 4-incher

by 537 comments

The Nokia X7-00 is here and we’ve prepared a video and a couple of pictures for you guys to enjoy. It has a very interesting (not to mention geekishly charming) design and most importantly, it features the latest version of Symbian – Anna.

We’ve already seen Symbian Anna in action on the E6 messenger phone. It even came in touchscreen fashion but on the much smaller 2.46″ landscape display. Now that the OS has ample 4″ screen real estate to work with, it can give its best. Read more »

Could this be the best iPhone 4 replica to date? And it runs Android! [VIDEO]

by 64 comments

If you’ve been hesitating between buying an Apple iPhone 4, but you’ve always admired and preferred the freedom Android provides, you can now find some peace and get the GooApple 3G (whew!). This unholy creature combines the body and looks of an iPhone 4 with the “soul”, as Steve Jobs likes to call the software, of Android.

The GooApple 3G comes from the great copyland of China and is replicated to such a degree that even screen protectors and cases designed for the iPhone 4 will match perfectly. When you turn it on, you might get fooled that it’s running iOS 4, but you’d be wrong. This thing runs Android 2.2 Froyo and is so deeply skinned to look like the real deal that it fills you with amazement. Read more »

Watch the dumbest Samsung Galaxy S II ad so far

by 822 comments

You possibly agree with me that most of the Samsung’s Galaxy S II commercials so far were stylish, but dumb. Well, today Samsung has outdone itself – the new ad is the dumbest one so far.

It focuses on the dual-core processor and supposedly demonstrates its advantages. Read more »

Ericsson trial new mobile money scheme across 7 European countries

by 9 comments

Swedish mobile technologies giant Ericsson have seen fit to leverage their wide-spread presence in the mobile industry and take a step into the consumer market with the launch of a new mobile money scheme. Think of this new scheme partly as a mobile to mobile PayPal service, it’s more than that but you get the idea.

Dubbed ‘Ericsson Money’, the service will allow participants to send or receive money and even withdraw cash. Read more »

LG Optimus 3D blesses our office with its stereoscopic presence, the preview is already in the works [VIDEO]

by 294 comments

Good news, fellas! LG Optimus 3D has just landed in our office and promises to stick around for a quick and dirty preview. The stereoscopic screen and the two cameras capable of capturing both stills and images in 3D are more than enough to make this one of the most interesting droids of the year.

But it doesn’t really end there – the LG Optimus 3D packs a powerful “dual core, dual channel, dual memory” TI OMAP 4430 chipset, which according to LG should outperform everything there is to outperform. So even if 3D isn’t your cup of tea this one should remain on your short list. Read more »

HTC Sensation death grip testing revisited. Are there different versions of the Sensation?

by 105 comments

HTC used the canned response “Every phone experiences a slight variation in signal strength when the antenna is covered in its entirety by a palm and/or fingers” when questioned about the death grip issues on the HTC Sensation.

While that’s true, it says nothing about the severity of the problem – it could be a small signal drop for completely covering the phone, or a large drop for barely holding it. HTC also said the problem was exaggerated in our video, so we decided to record a new one. Read more »

Here’s where Apple get their new ideas for the iOS 5 new features

by 93 comments

The talk of the day is still Apple’s keynote and the unveiling of iOS 5. It brought along many changes, most of which good ones but this geek can’t help but wonder – weren’t those things already available?

Much like some old iPhone ads by Apple itself, when somebody asked me how can I enable SMS delivery reports (you know as a joke that the iPhone can’t) I’d say – “There’s an app for that”. I used to say this about many things – like the missing DivX and XviD support too. And there is an app for most things we’d want to do with our iPhones. If there isn’t one in the official iTunes store, there’s probably one over at jailbroken heaven-vile Cydia. Read more »
