Samsung challenges people to stare at the Galaxy S4′s eye tracking technology for an hour to win one

Samsung and Swisscom promoted the fourth generation Galaxy S smartphone in the Zurich Main Station in an interesting manner. Samsung challenged the audience to stare at the Galaxy S4 for 60 minutes straight without looking away – and it wasn’t an easy task due to lots of available distractions.

Samsung promised a free Galaxy S4 smartphone to anyone who managed to stare at the device for 60 minutes non-stop with distractions like police dogs barking, hot dog vendors on fire, musicians, motorcycles driving past your side and crashing and other such attention killers. Read more »

Sony bags worldwide distribution rights of Angry Birds movie, will release it in July 2016

Sony Pictures Entertainment has bagged the worldwide distribution rights of the much anticipated Angry Birds movie. The 3D animated film in the making is being developed, produced and financed by Rovio, the creators of the popular Angry Birds franchise.

Sony will be releasing the movie worldwide on July 1, 2016. The upcoming flick will be the first step into the feature films after the company marked its entry to the television industry with its weekly Angry Birds Toons animated series. Read more »

Faking iPhone 5S spy shots – the hows and the whys

Google celebrates 57th anniversary of VHS with a VHS filter for YouTube videos

Google is known to celebrate important events in its own whimsical way. Today marks the 57th anniversary of the VHS tapes, the format of choice for all video content back in the day. We have moved quite far since then, with video several times the length and quality fitting on a chip the size of a fingernail. But one can always look back and reminiscence over what was the only way to get video playing in our homes.

To celebrate this occasion, Google has added a new VHS button on YouTube videos. This essentially adds a filter on top of your videos that makes the video look blurry and distorted with the typical ghosting and snowing artifacts common to damaged VHS tapes. Some nice touches are the way the video distorts even further when you pause it and occasionally the video will loop vertically on screen. Read more »

Facebook launches new Home ad, stars Mark Zuckerberg himself

Facebook has launched a new ad for their Android-based launched called Facebook Home. Unlike any of their previous ads, however, this one features the company CEO Mark Zuckerberg himself, along with other members of the team that worked on Facebook Home and is shot in their headquarters in Menlo Park, California.

The new ad carries forward the theme from the previous one, where users of Facebook Home start seeing events from their feed happening around them. In this video, Mark is congratulating his team on the work they did on Facebook Home, while one of the employees – Joey – is checking his feed on his HTC First. Read more »

Samsung is a big company that makes nearly everything, but now it’s expanding the list with Samsung SMART Eco Trees. The eco-friendly gadget is an air purifier that shares many of the advanced features with the Samsung Galaxy S4.

The basic feature of Eco Trees is to purify the air and pump out oxygen while scrubbing CO2. They also automatically keep air moisture at pleasant levels and cool the environment around them. FOTA (Fragrance Over The Air) will also make the air more pleasant. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy S4 with Exynos 5 processor gets rooted ahead of its global launch

Samsung’s latest flagship smartphone is yet to go sale and the developers at XDA forums have already managed to gain root access on the smartphone. The tech enthusiasts have found a way to root the Galaxy S4, which runs on the Exynos 5 octa-core processor, while the root for the Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset version is yet to come.

Samsung Galaxy S4 can be rooted with a ROM, which is packed with ROOT&Busybox image. You can flash that using Odin and gain root access on your smartphone in just a few minutes. Read more »

Nokia announces 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation microwave oven

Nokia has announced the new 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation microwave oven, a first for the Finnish company in its 148 years of existence. The Nokia 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation comes with a large touchscreen display that can be used even through oven mitts.

Other features of the 5AM-TH1N6 Constellation include a water-cooled, 8-core high-voltage transformer with a combined performance of 5,000 watts, eye-tracking technology that stops the food from rotating when you look at it and automatic temperature adjustment depending upon how hungry you look. Still doesn’t have Instagram, though, which is weird as uploading pictures of food is what the service is most used for anyway. Read more »
