After Lenovo announced two budget Chromebooks, It’s ASUS’ turn. The company announced two new models of its own, the C200 and the C300, that start at just $250.

C200 has a 11.6-inch display with 1366×768 resolution whereas the C300 maintains that resolution but goes to 13.3-inch. Both models run on Intel Bay Trail-M processor clocked at 2.42GHz, 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, dual-band 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, 1 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB 3.0, HDMI 1.4 and an SD card slot.

Both models will start shipping in North America by the end of June, starting at $250 for the base model.

Lenovo has announced two new Chromebook models, the Lenovo N20 and N20p. Both machines are nearly identical in terms of specifications, but while the N20 has a standard design, the N20p display flips backward and has a touchscreen.

Both machines come with a 11.6-inch, 1366×768 resolution display, Haswell-based Intel Celeron processor, 2GB RAM and 16GB storage space. Read more »

Over the span of last year around 2.1 million Chromebooks have been shipped. The majority of those numbers come from North America – exactly 89% – giving the continent the highest demand in the world.

Normally, users would get to try the service for 30 days but with this promotion you can get twice of that if you choose to go with a Chromebook. It seems Samsung is ready to give up on Windows notebooks, if a report by Digitimes is to be believed. According to their sources at a Taiwan-based supply chain, Samsung will no longer release conventional Windows based notebooks from next year.

So will it be dropping out of the notebook business altogether? Not quite. The report also states that Samsung will switch to only making Chromebooks from 2015. Samsung already has one model on sale right now and many more will be coming in future. Read more »

Toshiba has just entered the Chromebook fray with their own 13.3-inch offering, a first for the Japan-based company.

Despite the cheap $279 price tag, Toshiba’s Chromebook has a premium feel, weighing in at less than 1.5 kg, while being only a tad over 20mm thick. Read more »

LG unveiled the Chromebase – an all-in-one 21” desktop running Google’s feather-light Chrome OS. The device will be showcased next month, during CES 2014 in Las Vegas.

Acer took the wraps off a new member of its Chromebook lineup. Carrying the model number C720P, the newcomer puts an Intel Haswell Chip, an 11.6” 1366 x 768 touchscreen, and affordable price tag under the same roof.
