Google has updated the Android version of Chrome with several new features. Now at version 25.0.1364.123, the latest update concentrates mostly on improving the performance, with some useful new additions.

The list of improvements in this update includes improved scrolling performance, increased responsiveness to pinch-to-zooming and the latest version of the V8 javascript engine, which results in faster interactive pages. Read more »

After curiously launching only in New Zealand on the App Store, EA has now finally released Real Racing 3 globally for both iOS and Android devices. The game is free to download and weighs in at 716MB on iOS.

Google has now added a second category to the store with the introduction of Google Play Books. You will see the new addition immediately after launching the Play Store app on your Android device. In its annual Developer Day, held at the Mobile World Congress, Samsung has officially launched a ticket and coupon management application called Samsung Wallet, which is said to be quite similar to the Apple’s Passbook app.

Samsung Wallet allows you to store and manage event tickets, boarding passes, cards and coupons all under one roof. The South Korean manufacturer has also released an Application Programming Interface for its newly launched Wallet allowing partnering service providers to integrate their applications with the Wallet. NVIDIA is primarily a GPU company and it utilizes its close relationship with game developers to promote its products. The new Tegra 4 chipset is no exception and the company already announced 5 more games that are specifically optimized for the chipset.

The Tegra Zone has been around since the Tegra 2 came to be and it is a platform for showcasing Tegra-optimized (Android) games. The Tegra 3 optimized games looked pretty good, but the newly announced chipset is massively more powerful than that – NVIDIA went from 12 cores @ 520MHz architecture in Tegra 3 to 72 cores @ 672MHz in Tegra4. Last year, Adobe released the mobile version of their powerful Photoshop application, called Photoshop Touch. Although it was not quite in the same league as its desktop counterpart, the mobile app offered far more features than what you normally expect from a mobile image editing application.

Samsung Galaxy Ace 2 was supposed to jump from Android 2.3.x Gingerbread straight to Android 4.1 Jelly Bean without any Ice Cream Sandwich landing in between. And as we already know, Samsung has been testing out the Jelly Bean firmware for its Galaxy Ace 2 smartphones. Now, the test firmware for this once popular mid-ranger has leaked.

According to the leaked firmware, Samsung will be using its own Nature UX interface, which was initially announced on the Galaxy S3 smartphone and this might be the case with other mid-range smartphones like the Galaxy Beam, Galaxy Music, Galaxy Chat, Galaxy Ace Plus and Galaxy Mini 2, which will be receiving the Jelly Bean upgrades in the near future. The Mozilla team focused on the new Firefox OS at the MWC, but the stand-alone Firefox browser wasn’t neglected either. Firefox for Android version 20 was released in beta and it brings a customizable home screen, per-tab private browsing and a few other features.

Owners of old phones will be pleased to hear that Mozilla has added support for more ARMv6-based devices. The minimum requirements are now QVGA screen, 600MHz CPU and 384MB RAM. One of the good things about Samsung is that the company is quick to release the source code for their Android devices shortly after the update starts rolling out to the device. According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Samsung’s dominance on the market for Android devices has begun to make Google executives uneasy. The latter reportedly worry that the Korean manufacturer is large enough to renegotiate its current arrangement with Google and eat into the search giant’s lucrative mobile-ad business.

Samsung has received over 10% of the latter’s revenue in the past. The company has also signaled to Google that it might demand more going forward, as Google’s revenue from mobile apps such as Google Maps and YouTube is on the rise. Read more »
