Nokia Android concept demoed on video, looks hot

by 86 comments

Nokia’s Android prototype codenamed Normandy has leaked numerous times before in live pictures, official renders, detailed specs and more. We pretty much know everything there is to know about the Normandy but one – will it ever go official.

One of the recent leaks gave us a glimpse of Nokia’s proprietary Android launcher. The guys over TechRadar made a concept video of the interface based on those leaked screenshots. It looks really nice and is definitely a breath of fresh air among the competition. The Metro-like parts of the UI may not be everybody’s cup of tea though. Read more »

Carmageddon for iOS and Android goes free for 24 hours

by 4 comments

Carmageddon was one of the earliest racing games I ever played and certainly the goriest. The classic has been available on mobiles (iOS and Android) for a while now, but if you didn’t want to pay $2 for a hit of nostalgia then now is your chance – the game is temporarily free.

The offer is available for both platforms too, on iOS it’s part of App of the day. Read more »

by 11 comments

Sony recently announced a camera case for the Xperia Z Ultra that allows you to attach the Sony QX10 or QX100 cameras on the rather large body of the Z Ultra. Now Sony has announced a similar case for the new Xperia Z1 Compact, although the reason this time is not so clear.

As with the Z Ultra case, the case for the Z1 Compact (SPA-ACX4) snaps on to the back and has a provision where you can attach either of the two camera accessories without their snapping attachment. Read more »

Oppo Find 7′s screen will work with gloves and wet fingers

by 5 comments

We reported a bit on the Find 7 a while back and we’ve got some interesting news that makes the device even more enticing: the screen will work with gloves and wet fingers.

One of the biggest drawbacks of capacitive screens is that they tend to not work as well in really cold weather, when there’s moisture on the your fingers (or the screen), or when you’re wearing gloves. Read more »

Sony Xperia Z1 Compact hands-on

by 135 comments

We met the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact at CES, but now we’ve lured it into our office and right in front of the camera. This handset promises to revitalize the small, but premium phone market, going against the grain of the phablets and near-phablet handsets that have become the norm forAndroid flagships at the moment.

With a beautiful glass on aluminum frame design and compact dimensions, the Z1 Compact might be able to poach a few dedicated iPhone users. The waterproof rating and 20.7MP camera can’t hurt either. Read more »

Nokia Lumia 1320 hands-on

by 23 comments

The Nokia Lumia 1320 is considered the cheap man’s Lumia 1520, but that doesn’t make it less important than its high-end sibling. In fact, recently it was exactly Nokia’s more affordable devices that have been moving its business forward. Okay, technically, it’s now Microsoft’s business, but let’s stay on topic.

At the front, the Lumia 1320 boasts a 720p 6″ IPS ClearBlack display. It’s bright and boasts great colors, but you can notice that it’s not as sharp as the Lumia 1520′s equally-sized, but higher resolution screen. The cutback is understandable though, Nokia needs a mid-range runner who can quickly catch up to the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3. Read more »

Nexus 4 can rock the Sailfish OS

by 49 comments

Jolla’s Sailfish OS is new, intuitive, and interesting. We gave a preview of the OS’ features a while back and even though we like it, it’s no secret that it will be challenging for Sailfish to gain momentum in a market that is already dominated by well-established operating system’s like iOS and Android.

However, if you have a Nexus 4 (or presumably any other Android phone with an unlocked Bootloader), then you can try out Sailfish without having to fork over your hard-earned cash for an entirely new device. You can see a video of Jolla’s OS in action on a Nexus 4 after the jump. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is hot news these past couple of months – never mind that it’s not official. We’ve heard reports, whispers and even outright shouts about the upcoming flagship device and now, based on those, a Dutch website has created a render of the device, which we happen to find really hot.

The render is based on leaked information concerning the hardware but also the software of the device. It features an aluminum body, transparent TouchWiz on top of Android, the now familiar faux leather on the back and more. Read more »
