Today Facebook officially announced that it has sealed the deal for acquiring the face-recognition software company Face.com for an undisclosed sum. A move that’s hardly surprising as we’ve been hearing about it for a while now.

The deal is expected to go through in the coming weeks. There’s no telling what Facebook’s plans about Face.com are, but the company’s services are already widely used around the world’s largest social network. Read more »

A user, reportedly affiliated with Google, snapped a couple of pictures with a device, recognized as Asus Nexus 7 tablet. The pictures were uploaded to Picasa Web Albums by the user Somit Bh.

The pictures were removed from the user’s profile and Picasa Web Albums shortly after they were spotted, which only adds credibility to the leak. Read more »

Sony’s latest digicam offering, the RX100, will put a 1″ 20.9 MP Exmor CMOS sensor with BIONZ image processor in your hands sometime in July for the rather high asking price of $649.

The RX100 has a four times larger sensor than the run-of-the-mill point and shoot cameras, a 25 point Contrast Detect focusing system, and does 1080/60p AVCHD videos with stereo sound. The enthusiast camera can shoot in RAW and offers an ISO range between 120 and 6400 (which can be boosted up to 25600 using multi-frame noise-reduction). Read more »

Samsung has unveiled the multimedia-centric Series 5 Boost laptop for Korea and updated its Series 9, 5 and 3 ultrabooks with low-power Ivy Bridge processors.

The Series 5 Boost will come in 15″ and 17″ flavors, with a bright (300 nit) 1600 x 900 resolution display, JBL stereo speakers and either a Core i5 or i7 Ivy Bridge processor. Read more »

Samsung has stepped up its game with Music Hub, now offering unlimited streaming of your music and access to a library of over 19 million songs for 10 euro a month.

There are unconfirmed reports circling the web saying that Facebook is aimed at buying face recognition company Face.com for between $80 and $100 million.

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket has come for a visit so we got out the camera and filmed the whole thing. It’s among the smallest Android handsets around and is evidence of Samsung’s determination to conquer Android from the low through the mid and finally the high range.

Everything about the Galaxy Pocket screams compromise, the specs sheet that can fit on a napkin, the retail package that is as modest as they come but all of this promises a price not too many smartphones can compete against. Read more »

Infinity Blade, the all-conquering iOS title, has shifted direction, which is evident in the new gameplay video of the Infinity Blade: Dungeons.

The game now looks much more like Dungeon Hunter with the main character battling against all sorts of enemies in a maze-type arena complete with an overhead gaming view. Read more »
