Facebook confirms rumors, acquires Face.com

Today Facebook officially announced that it has sealed the deal for acquiring the face-recognition software company Face.com for an undisclosed sum. A move that’s hardly surprising as we’ve been hearing about it for a while now.

The deal is expected to go through in the coming weeks. There’s no telling what Facebook’s plans about Face.com are, but the company’s services are already widely used around the world’s largest social network.

Face.com released an article in its official blog, stating the company plans to continue supporting its developers and that it will disclose more information about the progress of the deal as it becomes available.

With Instagram and Face.com in check it seems the social network giant is planning something huge on the mobile front.
