Samsung just unveiled the official name of their much anticipated dual-core processor line-up. It turns out that what was once known as Orion will be the first processor in the Exynos line, a successor to Samsung’s own Cortex A8 Hummingbird SoC that powers the current Galaxy S.
The new CPU, called Exynos 4210, will be based on two Cortex A9 cores, each clocked at 1 GHz.
Following Wednesday’s announcement of the HP TouchPad, today Qualcomm officially announces the Snapdragon chipset – the APQ8060 – that powers the first webOS tablet.

Nokia actually dropped some pretty heavy bombs today with their WP7 announcement. We didn’t really expect that in spite of the initial rumors yesterday.
I’m not really sure that Windows Phone 7 is what Nokia needs right now. They plan for at least two years of transition period before they fully develop the new ecosystem. Two years is a lot of time and bad things can happen to their financial results and their place on the smartphone market in that time.

Google Phone 2.0 is crashing on our couch for a few days and we thought we should give it the unboxing treatment. What did the Samsung-Google collaboration bring to the hardware? The curved SuperAMOLED screen is certainly a curiosity. And this is our first encounter with an unmodded Android 2.3 Gingerbread, is it better than Froyo and by how much?

According to Opera’s State of the Web report, Opera Mini has about 90.4 million users every month, while the Opera Mobile handles approximately 15 million more. That makes for a total of 105 million people, which is a really impressive number.
Microsoft announced it’s ready with the first service packs for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. Both SPs are already handed to Microsoft’s OEM partners and we can download them on 22 February.
Celebrating losing its iPhone exclusivity in the US (just kidding), AT&T has announced that as part of its new bonus service called Mobile to Any Mobile, all AT&T customers will be able to call anyone in the US on their mobile for free.
To be eligible for the bonus service, you need to be on either the National or the FamilyTalk plan and also have the Unlimited messaging add-on plan activated. The Unlimited messaging plan is available for $20 per month on top of the usual monthly fee for the individual plan.
Hold your excitement, this is not the next Android version. The 2.3.3 is a minor feature update adding new NFC APIs for developers that we are going to see implemented in the NFC-enabled apps and devices later.
NFC (short for Near Field Communication) is a technology that’s been implemented in several mobile phones by Nokia through the years, but it seems it will only take off in 2011 as some new, and hopefully popular smartphones get support for it.

According to a Wall Street Journal report, the second generation of the Apple iPad has now entered production. This means that the iPad 2 will be ready to ship the end of February. Last year we had to wait till April to get it.
WSJ also suggests that the fancy ultra high-resolution screen we’ve been having dreams about won’t make it to the new Apple iPad 2. Instead, the current screen with resolution of 1024 by 768 pixels will be used.
Google has just released their official Google Translate a separate translate app for the Apple’s iOS. It’s a must have one for quick translations on the go, so please, open your AppStore and take it. You can even speak aloud what you want translated.
The new Google Translate app is much similar to the recently updated Android one. It supports both voice and text input as well as voice and text translations. But the thing that surprised me the most is the incredible accuracy.
Well, hello webOS tablet – the HP TouchPad (that’s right, no Palm branding here) just went official. The new Touchpad, which was previously rumored as HP Topaz, is ready to impress with some excellent collaboration with its phone siblings – just tap a Pre 3 on the tablet and your call is transferred from the phone to your TouchPad over Bluetooth.
With a dual-core processor and webOS’s card-based multitasking, the HP TouchPad will eat those older tablets for breakfast…
Pentax also joined the camera announcement party today in preparation for the CP+ camera show in Japan that’s due to start tomorrow. Pentax is throwing in a couple of rugged compacts and a silver version of their pretty successful K-5 DSLR.
As you could imagine, the WG-1 and WG-1 GPS are perfectly identical, but for the built-in GPS. Both are built around 1/2.33” sensors of 14 megapixel resolution and have 5x zoom f/3.5-5.5 lenses. The 28 – 140mm range covered is hardly spectacular, but still decent for the rugged league.
T-Mobile US introduced the LG G-Slate tablet over a month ago, but we got the first details and pictures just recently. Today we have an even better thing for you – a hands-on video.
The Tegra2-based G-Slate will be called Optimus Pad outside the States, but the specs stay the same.
Samsung is aiming at the masses with its PL20 and ES80 budget compacts. The 14 megapixel PL20 (picture below) is the better of the two with a 27mm wide-angle lens and 720p video recording at 24 fps. It offers 5x optical zoom, all this in a compact point-and-shoot body of the reasonable 20mm thick body.
Olympus has a thing for superzoom compacts so it’s little wonder that three of their four camera announcements today belong in that category. Today the company lifted the curtain of the DSLR-like SZ-10, packing 18x zoom lens, the ultra-wide angle VR-330 and VR-320 that zoom up to 12.5 times and the affordable VG-110.
The star of the show, the Olympus SZ-10, packs a 1/2.3” 14 MP CCD sensor and f/3.1-4.4 lens that covers the 28 – 504mm range in 35mm equivalent. The SZ-10 3” LCD screen features 460k dots, which is
