New reports suggest that Sony is already testing ICS on their two Android tablets and that the public release of the update should coincide with the release of the update for the company’s now wholly owned Xperia lineup some time in April.
Sony is also allegedly preparing “some really cool unique bits” to spice up the Android 4.0 for its tablet devices, but we can only guess.
Those of you that are eager to take Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich for a spin on their Samsung Galaxy S II just got another option. In addition to flashing the leaked Samsung beta ICS ROM (which we tried), you can now try the ICS-based latest version of the MIUI ROM.
The unofficial release is said to be quite stable and ready to do the job as your everyday ROM. Of course, MIUI comes with a heavily customized interface, so if you are a fan of the stock ICS looks you probably don’t need to bother with this one. Read more »
Samsung continued its controversial (but admittedly rather funny) promo campaign of the Galaxy S II with a couple of new videos.
Just like the previous ads that we covered, these two take a dig at the die-hard Apple fans, who seem to be so detached from the world, that they would prefer spending hours in queues and even camping in front of the store, instead of getting an obviously superior product like the Galaxy S II. One of the cool things about Android is that allows talented devs to create amazing things – like creating a huge touchscreen of sorts (using a projector) driven by a Samsung Galaxy Nexus that takes input from a Microsoft Kinect.
The result lets you interact with your phone through the projection screen just as if you were touching the phone’s own screen. Here’s the setup in action: Read more »
4G phones are (in)famous for their less than stellar battery life. Motorola seems to understand this very well, which is why they announced the DROID RAZR MAXX at the CES with a massive 3,300 mAh built-in battery.
Now they have launched a new promo video, that boasts about this outrageous battery capacity. Motorola is promising the longest battery life on any 4G LTE smartphone, that will supposedly last all-day, all-night. Motorola is also taking a jab at other smartphones in the video that die an untimely death when their battery runs out. Just curious though, Motorola, do these other phones include your own as well?
Anyway, enough talk. You can find the video below. Read more »
While Canon’s 5D Mark II is easily among the benchmarks in DSLR photography, one must agree that the highly revered camera is of a rather considerable age by now. After all, it was announced back in 2008.
It appears however, that its replacement might be hitting the market in the nearest future. An unknown Canon DSLR shooter has been spotted on a safari in Kenya, in the hands of a gentleman who confirmed himself to be a Canon employee, testing 200-400mm and 600mm prototype lenses. Judging by its looks, the mysterious camera is quite likely to be the upcoming Canon 5D Mark III.
The screen of the unknown Canon camera appears to bigger than both the units of the 7D or 5D Mark II. Read more »

It’s no secret to anyone that no device is perfect and the Transformer Prime doesn’t make an exception. Shortly after its release it got clear that some Prime tablets carried a faulty GPS.

I can’t believe I am writing this – Counter-Strike has gone mobile. Yes, one of the most played and famous multiplayer first-person shooters is undergoing serious development for Android devices.
The games comes courtesy of the devs over at XDA. Currently, they are working on two versions – 5o (that’s five-oh), which runs on Android 2.0+ devices and 6p, which is for Android 2.3+ devices and looks a lot like Counter-Strike 1.6. Read more »
The Pew Internet & American Life Project conducted several studies in the US, which show an interesting trend – in about a month over this past holiday season, the number of owners of tablets and e-readers almost doubled.
In mid-December around 10% of people in the US owned a tablet and just as many owned an e-reader. The study done in early January showed that ownership had jumped to 19% for tablets and for e-readers. Read more »
CyanogenMod is working on releasing their very own application store for Android. The idea was originally by one of CyanogenMod team members Koushik Dutta, who wanted to create an application store that would host applications that were removed from Android Market for some reason. This would include stuff like one click root apps, game emulators, tether apps, visual voicemail apps, etc. Although Google’s Market is open, some of these apps do get removed from time to time when they don’t meet Google’s or the carrier’s terms and conditions.
The other reason to have their own application store is so that they could use a small portion of the money coming in from app sales to fund the CyanogenMod project, which has been made available to users for no cost at all. Read more »
Things that you used to think were huge as a kid, seem so much smaller once you grow up, your staircase or your Dad’s old car for example; but here’s something that appears to have grown up with us.
There’s nothing like a super-sized NES controller to rekindle your childhood inner nerd. Read more »
When Microsoft and Remedy announced Alan Wake back in 2005, it was meant to be released both on the PC as well as the Xbox 360. The game wowed everyone with its visuals, which were to use the then-upcoming DirectX 10 technology from Microsoft. Unfortunately, the PC version of the game was canned with no word on future availability and it has been available exclusively on the Xbox 360 so far.
Now suddenly, almost two years after the game released on the Xbox, Remedy has announced the PC version of the game, which will be releasing in February. This is going to be the definitive version of the game, with improved higher resolution graphics (the screenshot above is in-game), support for keyboard/mouse/Xbox controller, stereoscopic 3D, and will come bundled with the two DLCs, ‘The Signal’ and ‘The Writer’.
