Google Chrome. Google’s web browser didn’t waste any time in becoming a hit on desktop PCs and in a matter of just a few years placed second in the browser rankings. That’s crazy even for Google, but they pulled it off.

The Motorola DROID RAZR MAXX looks so familiar, you can easily mistake it for its slimmer brother from certain angles. Aside its massive built-in battery and a change in the internal memory capacity, the newcomer in Verizon’s LTE lineup is identical to the DROID RAZR, which broke cover in November last year.

Quite frankly, I never thought that battery capacity will be the star feature in a high end Android smartphone, but, given my experience with a number of top notch devices from the past year, it makes perfect sense. After all, I witnessed several Android top dogs with massive spec sheets display battery performance, which puts their daily usability in question, thus forcing me to walk around with a charger in my pocket. Limited availability aside, the Chrome beta launch went as smooth as Google could have possibly hoped. Everyone who got a chance to take the new Android browser for a spin loved it and for a good reason. The Chrome beta is smooth, offers a cool UI and plenty of eye-candy and seemed to have the stock browser in its pocket.

And then you notice that it’s lacking Flash support. But hey, the stock ICS browser also missed Flash at launch and got it later, right? As it turns out, Chrome for Android won’t be as lucky and it will most likely remain without Flash support forever. Read more »

HP’s TouchPad made quite a stir with its wild firesale back in the summer of last year. However, some of the lucky buyers ended up with special versions of the tablet with Android running on it, suggesting HP are at work on an official Android port for it.

Since those special units weren’t supposed to end up in consumers’ hands and were shipped out by mistake, HP wasn’t obligated to make the kernel’s source code open source. Now, though, they did, giving the kernel source to the open public and specifically to the CyanogenMod 9 team. Read more »

Vodafone UK will be offering Sony’s next-gen portable console, the PlayStation Vita, starting February 22 (the same date as the US launch). The console packs impressive hardware for a portable device – 5.5″ AMOLED screen, quad-core Cortex-A9 processor and PowerVR SGX543MP4+.

For all of us eager for some news about the highly anticipated release of the latest CyanogenMod, Mr. Cyanogen himself, Steve Kondik, updated the official CyanogenMod site with news on how the most recent build is coming along.

Much of the functionality of the current CM7 release is being redone for the upcoming build, due to the fact that Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (the build which CM9 is based on) is such an extensive overhaul of the Android platform. Read more »

The OneNote Mobile app has been available for some time now on Windows Phone and iOS but it has now finally arrived on Android as well. Functionality-wise it is identical to the iOS version. You log in to your Windows Live account and the app will sync all your OneNote items automatically. You can then also access these notes while the phone is offline.

The OneNote Mobile app for Android is free but like the iOS version you will only have access to all the features till the first 500 notes. After that you can only view, delete and sync your notes, unless you pay $4.99 to be able to create and edit notes again.

The OneNote Mobile app is now available worldwide for device running Android 2.3 and higher and can be downloaded from here.

Olympus has announced the first model in its new OM-D series of Micro Four Thirds camera, the Olympus OM-D E-M5. It features a delightfully retro design, similar to the other Micro Four Third cameras from Olympus. Olympus claims that the E-M5 is the world’s first camera to feature 5-axis image stabilization and has the world’s fastest autofocusing system.

Google just unveiled the Android-ready version of its Chrome web browser and made this a huge day for the Chrome users, who have a smartphone of the droid variety. The app is still in beta, but it already looks like one of the best browsers on the platform (and as you know there’s no shortage of quality web browsers on Android).

After a few years of domination, the Nintendo Wii has finally yielded upon the Xbox 360. The Microsoft’s console sold 8.2 million units throughout the holiday quarter – 2.6 million more than the Wii sales.

It is also the best-selling console for the whole 2011 with 14.9 million Xboxes sold. The PlayStation 3 comes second with 14.1 million and the Wii is last with 10.33 million units sold. Read more »

Toshiba and Carphone Warehouse are bringing “the world’s thinnest tablet” – the Toshiba AT200, or as users stateside know it, the Excite X10. It measures just 7.7mm thick and weighs 535g.

We first saw the AT200 last September at IFA when it beat the Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 (another tablet to debut at IFA) by 0.2mm in terms of thickness, despite having a larger 10.1″ 1280×800 screen. Read more »

Now this probably shouldn’t worry you right now as hardly anyone plans to sell their iPhone just a few months after acquiring it, but it’s one to keep in mind for the future. Siri might go crazy if she hears you consider selling its home.
