Xiaomi announced that the first flash sale of its fitness tracking Mi Band saw 1,000 units being sold out within 7 seconds. The sale commenced today at 2PM IST.
It’s worth mentioning that the Mi Band wasn’t put on sale on Flipkart this time around, rather it was sold directly through the official website of Mi India, making it the first device to be sold through the flash sale model via the company’s online store.
A month ago, Apple sparked a conversation about the emojis by including the racially diverse ones in the OS X 10.10. 3 and iOS 8.3 update. While those ripples were disrupting the pond, Microsoft has gone a step ahead by throwing in a bold emoji in the Windows 10.
One of the latest builds of the Windows 10 Technical Preview includes the bold middle finger emoji. Often referred as the finger or flipper, that emoji comes along with various skin tones as well. Technically being referred a “reverse hand with middle finger extended”, this emoji sounds nothing close to profane one at least in the Unicode Consortium’s listing.

Google is rolling out a new version of the Play Store, v5.5.8. There are two major changes here, one of which is new animations. If you have a Android 5.1 device, you’d have noticed there was a small animation when you clicked on any item, as it expanded in a circle at the top of the screen. Now that animation has been improved and you will see the circular thumbnail pop out and and expand above and then reverse when you go back.
The other change is the new popular opinions section. Now, Play Store can pull some quotes out of user reviews into small chat bubbles so that you get a general idea of what the people are saying about the selected content.
Sony has announced that subscriptions for its game streaming service, PlayStation Now, will be available on the PS3 gaming console starting May 12. “Now you’ll be able to play a huge library of more than 100 hit PS3 games on PS4 and PS3, as well as select Sony Blu-ray players and TVs, all for one monthly price,” the company said in a blog post.
The company also revealed that the subscription will be coming to more devices soon, and more games will be added to the service’s library each month – this month’s new titles include Fat Princess, F1 2014, Sanctum 2, Dynasty Warriors: Strikeforce, and Farming Simulator.

Samsonite has partnered with South Korean tech giant Samsung to come up with a new technology aimed at bringing an end to all your luggage woes. The companies are currently working on the concept of smart luggage – suitcases fitted with microchips, allowing you to track them using GPS.
“Smart luggage will be able to communicate with you but it needs to be able to do much more than just give its location,” said Samsonite chief executive Ramesh Tainwala. “We are working with Samsung to create something that is more than a gimmick.”

Microsoft has issued an update to Cortana’s Live Tile enabling users to have a quick glance at the current weather in their area.
The tile for the voice-activated digital personal assistant now shows a small weather animation (see video below), and flips to reveal weather-related information, including temperature.
