Thanks to evleaks we can take a first glimpse at the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 7.0. Samsung’s fourth-generation 7″ tablet sports a look similar to the Galaxy Note 3. It sports the classic three button configuration under the display, too.

The HTC One received the lowest ever repairability score that iFixit has ever given a smartphone – 1/10. So, how did the new One (M8) do? it’s a massive improvement as the score has doubled to… well, 2/10.

Microsoft announced its Surface Pro 2 tablet with a 1.6 GHz Intel Core i5-4200U processor but then decided that it will include a 1.9 GHz Intel Core i5-4300U processor instead two months later.

But now that the device is shipping to users who have bought it it turns out that some (if not all) of them are getting the Surface Pro 2 with the initially-announced chip. Read more »

NVIDIA has revealed that Valve will be releasing an Android version of the highly popular Portal game for the NVIDIA SHIELD console. Although you could play the game before on your SHIELD by streaming it from your PC this is a native Android version that probably won’t look as good but can be played anywhere without the need for an internet connection.

What we don’t know for sure if the game will be available exclusively for SHIELD, for other Tegra devices as well, on all Android devices or also on other platforms such as iOS. Read more »

NVIDIA has announced some great new things for existing and future owners of their Android-based handheld gaming console, SHIELD. This includes stuff like remote streaming, Bluetooth keyboard and mouse support, wider PC game support, improved gamepad mapping, Android 4.4.2 KitKat update and a limited time lower price.

One of the cool features of the NVIDIA SHIELD was the ability to stream PC games from your desktop PC running select NVIDIA GPU to the console over a local network. With the new remote streaming feature, you will now be able to stream PC games to the SHIELD from anywhere in the world. The feature, arriving in beta, will let you wake up your PC from sleep remotely and also log into it if it’s locked. Read more »

Facebook has announced plans to acquire Oculus VR, the company behind the much hyped and highly anticipated Oculus Rift virtual reality headset. Facebook will be spending approximately $2 billion to complete the deal, out of which $400 million would be in cash and 23.1 million shares of Facebook valued at around $1.6 billion currently.

The Facebook-Oculus deal comes out of nowhere and is at odds at what the two companies do. Yet, CEO of Facebook mark Zuckerberg assured on his Facebook post that the two companies share the same vision and that this acquisition will change the way we communicate and interact with each other. Today marked the unveiling of another of this year’s anticipated smartphone flagship announcements, the HTC One (M8). At today’s launch, HTC hailed the device as their best smartphone ever, and it’s truly a beauty to behold with its full metal chassis and slick design. But does it have what it takes to hold its own against the other upcoming flagship-grade competition?

The new HTC M8 sports a quad-core Snapdragon 801 chipset running at 2.3 GHz, with Adreno 330 GPU and 2GB of RAM. This is very similar to what powers the Xperia Z2, except the Sony device has an additional 1GB of RAM. The Galaxy S5 also runs on a Snapdragon 801 chip, but is clocked higher than both devices at 2.5 GHz. Read more »

Last year, the original HTC One (M7) caused a stir in the Android community with its stunning looks, Ultra Pixel camera, front-facing speakers and high pixel density display. Making a successor that carries the torch from such an impressive device is hard, but HTC has no other option but to try. Let’s see if the HTC One (M8) has what it takes to make the Android community go “wow” one more time.

The HTC One (M8) features a slightly bigger battery than its predecessor (2,600mAh vs. 2,300mAh) and an Extreme Power Saving Mode. That’s only for when you really need to stretch the last few percent though, otherwise it would be a shame to limit the speedy Snapdragon 801 chipset.

Note that for this test we didn’t use the power saving mode – we’re aiming to replicate regular daily usage and these modes limit the phone’s features and performance. Read more »
