Amazon now lets you negotiate prices with sellers

Today Amazon has unveiled a new feature for its customers. It’s called Make an Offer, and it basically lets you negotiate lower prices with Amazon sellers.

To start, you’re able to do this for “more than 150,000 items” in the Sports and Entertainment Collectibles, Collectible Coins, and Fine Art categories. Read more »

Windows 8′s Xbox Video app now natively supports MKV files

Blu-ray won the optical format wars while MKV won on the digital side. That’s why there was plenty of cheers (by which we mean grunts “Finally!”) when it was revealed that Windows 10 will support MKV files natively. It turns out we don’t have to wait so long – Windows 8.1 now supports them too.

The pre-installed Xbox Video app has been updated and it can now play “most MKV files,” provided they don’t use an unsupported codec. Read more »

LG G Watch R2 4G smartwatch to be announced at MWC

2014 has undoubtedly been an eventful year for mobile tech. One of the definite refrains of the past moths has been the smartwatch reemergence as a viable and fast-growing market niche. Wearables seem to be popping up more and more frequently and the recent introduction of Google’s Android Wear only fueled the market fire. LG has remained at the forefront of the new craze, producing not one, but two very successful smartwatches in under a year – the LG G Watch and the round LG G Watch R.

Earlier today, Business Korea reported on a rumor that claims LG is already hard at work on the G Watch R’s successor. The new device will bear the logical name LG G Watch R2 and will be unveiled to the public during the next Mobile World Congress, held in March 2015 in Spain. Read more »

Xiaomi announces Mi Air Purifier for $150

Xiaomi has announced a new air purifier for homes. Called, well, Mi Air Purifier, the tiny tower takes up about A4 paper size space on your floor and costs just $150.

The Mi Air Purifier has two fans and four air ducts. It can produce 10,000 liters of clean air per minute and the 3 layer filter removes 99.99% of PM2.5 particles. PM2.5 particles are the ones that are smaller than 2.5 micrometers and contain dust , dirt, soot, smoke and liquid particles and are harder to filter and usually cause the most damage to lungs. VLC for Android drops beta tag, brings bug fixes and improvements

After spending over 2 years in beta, the VLC for Android app has finally graduated to stable release. Although the stable release brings a host of bug fixes, no new features have been added. In fact, Chromecast streaming support, which was promised earlier this year, is still missing.

Specifically, the release fixes Android 5.0 crashes as well as issues that affected devices with ARMv8 processors. In addition, the updated app also brings along a new interface (available in dark or white colors), an equalizer, playlist management, Widi screens support, DVD iso and menu support and updated SD cards detection. Finally, hardware acceleration is now enabled by default on Android 4.3 and higher, and software decoding has been accelerated too. Read more »

Microsoft offers 12 days of holiday promotions

Just like last year, Microsoft is again organizing a 12 day long holiday promotion with price cuts on various devices. Much like an advents calendar the US tech giant will be unveiling the special offers one at a time, every day until December 19.

Toshiba TT301 Android tablet can lend its 24″ screen to a PC

Toshiba unveiled the TT301, aka The Shared Board. It’s a 24″ 1080p tablet that also doubles as an HDMI monitor if you hook it up to a TV or you can use it as a wireless display via Miracast. It weighs only around 1.8kg (remember it’s 24″ big) and packs two 2W speakers.

Toshiba also included its own implementation of split-screen multitasking, but it seems it’s limited to only two apps at a time (Samsung’s Multi Window can do up to 4 split-screened apps, plus floating apps). Read more »

Microsoft has been tinkering quite a lot with Android applications lately, even if with mixed success. One of their more interesting creations for the platform is the Next Lock Screen – a smart, location-aware lockscreen that pulls relevant information from user apps and places it right beside notifications for easy access.

Apple recently launched the new iPad Air 2, which is the company’s thinnest and most powerful tablet so far. The original Air was already a super thin tablet but the new one is even thinner while being more powerful and having similar battery life.
