Archos has released its latest Android tablet, called the GamePad. As you can tell, the device has been optimized for gaming and as such comes with a full set of physical controls besides the display.

The Google Nexus 10 has finally graced our office with its presence. Not only is this Google’s first swing at a 10-inch slate, but it’s also the tablet with the highest resolution screen on the market. It’s got a 2560×1600-pixel LCD with a pixel density of 300 ppi, which can put even the Retina iPad to shame.

The Google Nexus 10 is also the first tablet to be powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 5250 chipset, featuring a couple of Cortex-A15 cores. And all Google is asking for this impressive package is $400. Read more »

Toshiba has unveiled a new 10 inch tablet, called the Excite 10 SE, aimed at the mid-range tablet market.

In terms of size and weight, the Excite 10 SE is almost identical to the Google Nexus 10 – and runs Android 4.1 to boot. Read more »

ASUS has unveiled a new docking station for the Nexus 7 on their Japanese website and is expected to go on sale some time this month for 3,480 yen ($42).

The docking station uses the golden connectors on the side of the Nexus 7 to interface with it. It has a microUSB port on the back along with a 3.5mm audio jack, which lets you charge or connect the Nexus 7 to a computer as well as output audio from it. Read more »

The new iPad and iPad mini, announced in Q3 of this year, haven’t even launched in China but Apple is still dominating the tablet market there. According to the statistics every 3 out of 4 tablets sold there as being made by Apple.

This bodes well for Apple in China – particularly for its tablet division – where year-on-year sales of tablets have increased by more than 60%. Read more »

The Apple iPad share in the tablet market in Q3 has remained flat at 55%. That’s more than half of the entire segment, which is a pretty great achievement.

However Android now covers 44% of the tablet shipments in Q3, which means the open-source OS is gaining speed faster than previously projected. Read more »

Amazon has slashed the prices of its updated Kindle Fire tablets both in the UK and now in the US to celebrate Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While Black Friday is mostly an American thing, UK customers got to buy the revamped 7″ tablet for just £99 (with ads), which led to a record number of units sold.

After being announced back in September, the new Nook HD and Nook HD+ have finally gone on sale, in the UK for now. Those who pre-ordered theirs from Barnes & Noble online store should get it this week or you could purchase them from stores such as John Lewis, Argos, Asda, Dixons, Sainsbury, Waitrose, Blackwell’s and Foyles in the UK.

Samsung has announced a Premium Suite update for the Galaxy Note 10.1, which will be provided with the upcoming Android 4.1 Jelly Bean update whenever it is released. They have now released a lengthy video that shows these new features in action.

Most of the features in the Premium Suite extend upon the existing features in the Note 10.1. For example, the multi-window app functionality now lets you run several apps simultaneously and even increase their size. The Air View feature, borrowed from the Note II, lets you hover over content in default Samsung apps and preview them. The clipping feature lets you cut images from web pages and send them or add to documents. Read more »

Samsung is finally reseeding the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the Galaxy Tab 8.9. The Galaxy Tab 8.9 didn’t gain much traction though I have always considered this screen size to provide the best combination of portability and big-screen user experience.

Back in July, Samsung started seeding an Ice Cream Sandwich update to most of its tablets. The Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 was on the list but the update for it was stopped in its tracks due to some pending issues.
