Skype has finally made its way as an app to Nokia Belle, folks – a good deal of time after Nokia’s latest Symbian OS saw the world.

Nokia Car Mode now available for download, gives you the in-car comfort you’ve always wanted

Nokia has just announced that its car mode app for Belle-running smartphones is now available for download. The software that makes your smartphone much easier to operate while you are driving has hit the Nokia Store and you can now download it directly from your Belle smartphone.

The Nokia software engineers have created two versions of the app. The first of them is called Nokia Car Mode and offers Nokia‚Äôs leading turn-by-turn navigation, as well as the overall smartphone experience into the car environment, while also bringing Nokia Drive, traffic updates, Nokia Music and voice calls while driving. Ripped Angry Birds compatible with other Nokia S40 phones

We all know how popular the Angry Birds game is. And back at Nokia World when the S40-running Asha 300/303 were announced to come with the popular pig-bashing game pre-installed, fans of the platform loudly rejoiced.

Nokia updates Live View app, includes performance enhancements and a new List View

You may have heard or seen Nokia’s Live View app, an augmented reality software that shows you names and location of objects around you using the phone’s camera, GPS, compass and accelerometer. It’s similar to the Layar app found on iOS and Android.

The app has now been updated and brings performance enhancements, along with some bug fixes. Also in the list of changes is a new list view mode (seen below) other than the camera viewfinder mode and a tutorial to guide you through the Live View usage and feature set. Read more »

Olive is the first full length feature film shot completely on a N8

The rapid progress that cameraphone have been making over the past few years is no secret for anyone, but shooting a whole movie on one? Yes, please! – said phone directors Hooman Khalili and Patrick Gilles and proceeded to shoot their full length feature film Olive on a Nokia N8.

We are talking a full cinema-ready movie here that should be hitting theaters in the US soon. And all it took for the N8 to turn into a piece of cinematic gear was a 35 mm lens adapter, which was modified to fit the smart phone in order to achieve the needed shallow depth of field. Read more »

Nokia Maps for Symbian gets a 3.08 update with Weather

The latest version of Nokia Maps, 3.08.203, has just graduated from Beta and is now being seeded to Symbian-running smartphones around the globe. You can get it right now from the software update tool on your device or via the Nokia Suite.

Opera Mini 6.5 now available on iOS, BlackBerry and Symbian, Opera Mobile 11.5 hits Symbian, too

Opera Software has just announced that it’s expanding the availability of the latest versions of its two mobile browsers. Opera Mini 6.5 is now officially available for iOS (both iPhone and iPad), BlackBerry and Symbian as well as Java-enabled phones.

Symbian users are also getting the latest, 11.5, version of the Opera Mini bigger brother, Opera Mobile. As you probably know, the two new Opera browsers are also available on Android, so now they have cover the five most popular platforms worldwid. Read more »

Ovi Store gets renamed to Nokia store, built using Qt Quick

Nokia announced back in May that they will be renaming their Ovi services such as the Ovi Store to Nokia Store. The process was supposed to happen later in 2012 and it finally has. The Ovi Store is now officially known as the Nokia Store.
