Several months after releasing a standalone application of Google Docs for Android, the company has now launched a special update for Honeycomb tablets, which should make document browsing a breeze.

Thanks to its entirely refreshed design, the Google docs app now features the three-panel view, typical for Honeycomb. One of the more interesting things announced at the ‘Let’s Talk iPhone’ event yesterday was Find My Friends for iOS devices. It’s basically an optional location tracking service that you can use on your iOS device.

Apple has just released the iOS 5 Gold Master for the developers. It is the final step before unleashing the mass update for the regular users on October 12.

According to Apple, the iOS 5 will launch with iCloud sync and services, while the iTunes match will become available for the US users in the end of this month. The rest of the world should get it in the upcoming months.

If you are a registered developer with Apple you can get the iOS 5 GM right now. The rest of the users will have to wait a few days until October 12.

Siri is now an integral part of the iPhone 4S. It’s supposed to do a lot of stuff for you, among which, answer any question you may come up with. You can ask about anything – the weather, movies, restaurants, news, etc. and providing you have an intelligent question, it should get you a reasonably intelligent answer quickly and in the right context.

BlackBerry DevCon is actually a series of three events which are going to take place in San Francisco, USA (18-20 Oct.), in Bangkok, Thailand (7-8 Dec.) and in Amsterdam, Netherlands (7-8 Feb. 2012). The first event is just two weeks ahead of us and promises to bring us lots of new stuff.

The i-dotting and t-crossing is complete and Adobe released the latest versions of their Flash Player and AIR. Available to desktop operating systems and compatible mobile platforms, Adobe Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 promise a dramatic improvement in performance.

The new releases finally enable 3D hardware acceleration, which should allow much more demanding applications to run smoothly even on mobile platforms. The Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S just arrived in our office and it promised to stay around for a full review. What’s even better is that we got the latest and greatest Xperia smartphone in two different flavors – white and black.

The arc S is actually pretty similar to its predecessor, but for a couple of key differences. On the hardware side of things you get the higher processor clock – 1.4GHz, which should improve performance even further, while on the software side the Xperia arc S offers Android 2.3.4 out of the box. Following the introduction of Windows Phone 7.5 Mango, Microsoft have dubbed the next iteration of their mobile platform ‘Apollo’ and they’ve taken to asking their users as to what features they would like to see as the OS develops.

Great news, Sony Ericsson fans! A version of the CyanogenMod 7 with support for all currently existing Sony Ericsson Xperia smartphones is on the way. The news was brought by the chief CM developers Steve Kondik, so it’s as official as it gets.

CM7 is an aftermarket firmware based on the open-source Android project, which has helped many droids to get updates long after their official support stopped. So if you are still sticking with your Xperia X8 or Xperia Mini, you will be able to repay them for their service with a portion of Gingerbread. Read more »
