Today Samsung has unveiled the newest member of its Level family of audio products – the Level Box Mini. This is a wireless speaker that’s supposed to deliver “premium-quality sound within a light, compact metallic body”.

Microsoft has announced that the Docking Station for its Surface Pro 3 tablet is now up for grabs in both Canada and the United States.

Samsung has started rolling out a software update for Gear Live. The update will change the build number to KMV78Y, which is about the only thing we know it does so far.
The update had started rolling out for the LG G Watch earlier and it fixed the corrosion issue with the charging connectors on the watch. The Gear Live had no such issue, so it’s hard to tell what exactly the update does on the latter, other than bringing the two devices at parity. Read more »

One of the problems with the G Watch (and the Gear Live) is that it comes with a proprietary charging port that necessitates the use of the bundled charging cradle. While that may not seem too bad at first, there was no way to replace the cradle in case you lost it. What made the problem even worse in case of the G Watch is that there is no power button on it and if it switches off the only way to switch it back on is to put it on the charger.
Thankfully, LG has now started selling the charging cradle separately on the Play Store, which should put your mind at ease if you happen to have a G Watch. Read more »

The Wireless Power Consortium has outlined the new Qi v.1.2 wireless charging standard, which comes with support for greater charging distance. The current Qi standard is only capable of charging at a distance of 7mm, while v1.2. promises to increase this to 45mm.
The consortium says that five different member companies are already demonstrating charging at 45mm distance using prototype receivers. It also quite possible that charging station will become cheaper, as the new standard enables them to use a single inverter to power multiple coils.. Read more »
Samsung trademarked the Gear S name. The Korean giant filed the paperwork for the moniker in the United States Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO) earlier this month, on July 22.

Last month we reported that Fitbit is working on releasing a Windows Phone app for its Fitbit fitness band. The app is now live and can be downloaded from the Windows Phone store.
