Twitter’s Buy button now in testing, lets you purchase stuff straight from a tweet

Back in July a few people spotted an odd new Buy button next to certain product-related tweets in their Twitter timelines. Starting today this feature is officially in testing, the social network has announced.

For now, you’ll only see Buy buttons next to some tweets if you’re in the US. Even if you are, you might not get the new feature, as it will first be available for just “a small percentage” of users. Read more »

Mystery 7-inch LG Tegra-powered tablet spotted with Google branding

An upcoming 7-inch tablet listing has been spotted on the US FCC website that indicates that LG is readying a new Nvidia Tegra-powered tablet in the compact range.

Motorola Moto 360 with metal band on pre-order on Verizon

The Motorola Moto 360 smartwatch sold out soon after it was released. If you wanted a metal wrist band you were out of luck even if you got to the store in time – Motorola released the phone with a choice of two leather bands saying it will make it available with a metal band later on.

Now however, Verizon has put the metal strap version on pre-order for $300 with a choice of Black and White (more like silver) colors. Read more »

Microsoft aims to bring new life into its aging MSN portal with a shiny new homepage alongside plan to rebrand several of its Bing-powered applications.

Sony Xperia Z3 launcher ported to Android 4.2+ Xperias

Sony unveiled the new Xperia Z3 on Wednesday, which brought some improvements over the Xperia Z2. The changes weren’t groundbreaking though (the 6-month update schedule means smaller upgrades) and now Z2 owners have even less to feel envious about since the Xperia Z3 launcher and widgets have been ported to Android 4.2 and above.

Oppo to offer Color OS on LG G2, recruits beta testers now

Did you like the so called Color OS running on the Oppo Find 7 and Find 7a? Oppo’s take on the default Android looks and behavior was quite good, with lots of new eye-candies, features and services.

Google details Android Wear updates for the rest of the year

Today Google has posted an official list of features it will add to the Android Wear platform before 2014 ends. The company has also confirmed once again that all smartwatches running Android Wear will get the updates as soon as these are going to be ready.

Alcatel Hero 8 tablet brings LTE-connected Android in 8″ metal body

Alcatel brought out a new Android tablet at IFA, the Alcatel Hero 8. With an 8″ WUXGA (1920 x 1200px) screen it will compete with the likes of the Lenovo Tab S8. The tablet has an aluminum body that’s just 7.3mm thick though (vs. the 7.9mm plastic body of the Lenovo).

The Alcatel Hero 8 is LTE-enabled and supports voice calls. You may want to use the new Sidekick 2, a phone-shaped Bluetooth headset. Read more »

Motomaker phone customization service arrives in the UK and France

The Motomaker customization service started in the US and in July expanded to Germany. It will continue its European expansion later this month by adding the UK and France to its list of supported countries.

Motorola has announced the successor to its most popular phone to date, the Moto G. Once again, called just the Moto G, the new phone improves mostly upon the display, camera, and speakers over its predecessor while retaining the same great price.

The new Moto G has a 5.0-inch 720p display, compared to the 4.5-inch 720p display on the original Moto G. The phone, just like the new Moto X, is bigger than its predecessor. Read more »
