Jolla teams up with Rovio to launch Angry Birds Stella Android launcher

Jolla and Rovio have teamed up to introduce the Angry Birds Stella launcher for Android. Jolla did an Android launcher in the summer, but now the latest version comes with an Angry Birds theme focusing on one of the game’s latest characters, Stella.

Since in its functionality, the Jolla Stella launcher is the same as before, you can experience the nice gesture-based controls while quenching your Angry Birds thirst. On top of that, the launcher comes with unlimited access to ToonsTV. It is accessible by making a swipe from the edge of the screen. Read more »

Nexus 9 goes up for pre-order on Amazon

The Google Nexus 9 has gone on pre-order on Amazon in various countries. The new tablet can now be found on the US, German, and French Amazon stores, and should be up on others soon.

The Nexus 9 is priced at $399 for the 16GB variant and $479 for the 32GB variant. It is only available in black and white for now, and not the sand color. You could choose to get two or three year drops and spills warranty for additional $71.96 and $94.21, respectively. The tablet will be delivered after November 3. Read more »

The Nexus 9 tablet that was officially unveiled yesterday by Google and HTC is already to be found out and about in Vietnam. And thankfully some enterprising souls decided to make it the star of several live, hands-on images, as well as a video that shows it to the world for the first time.

Google just released Android 5.0. Lollipop, but the company isn’t having any breaks as the latest Google Keyboard is now available with several new languages and a new settings menu.

A Windows 8.1 tablet for $65? “Ha!” says NuFront, the chipset maker that has created $54 Android tablets. Unlike their Windows competitors the NuFront-based tabs have 3G connectivity out of the box – HSPA+, to be precise.

Alleged Nexus 6 camera samples leak

A Google+ album has surfaced containing unimaginative but important pictures. The creator, one Duan Dao, claims the images in the album have been captured with the mint-fresh Motorola Nexus 6.

Some of the images have been resized and all of them lack EXIF data so we can’t really be sure if the claim is true but some images carry the 4160x3120px (13MP) resolution of the Nexus 6 giving the claim some credibility. Read more »

Nexus Player by Asus is the first Android TV console

The first device to run Android TV is the previously leaked Asus Nexus Player, announced today alongside the Nexus 6 phablet and the Nexus 9 tablet. The Nexus Player is a set-top-box / console that you connect to your existing TV, and it even comes with an optional gamepad accessory.

BT4.0-enabled August Smart Lock arrives in Apple stores this week

If you haven’t heard of it, the August Smart Lock uses Bluetooth 4.0 LE and a smartphone in place of old-fashioned keys. It works with iPhones 4s and up (iOS 7 and later) and certain Androids (KitKat and later). The lock replaces a deadbolt and can be opened with a key in case you forget your phone or something goes amiss.

New Skype-made Qik app lets groups chat with 42-second videos

A small team at Skype went the startup route with the popular “send [arbitrary number] second videos!” formula. The new app is called Skype Qik (“quick”) and lets you record 42-second videos that you can send to one person or a whole group.

Vodafone Smart Tab 4G launches tomorrow at £125

Vodafone is expanding its Android tablet roster with one of the cheapest 4G LTE tablets around. Dubbed Vodafone Smart Tab 4G it will launch tomorrow at £125 on Pay as you go and £30 on a 1GB/£17 a month plan.

The tablet features an 8″ IPS screen with 1,280 x 800 pixel resolution and is surprisingly thin for a budged device, it measures just 8mm thick. Read more »

Nexus 6 running Android L appears in a leaked Google video ad

A new Google ad promoting the upcoming Nexus 6 with Android L has made it to the Internet a bit earlier than expected. The leaked ad is short, but sweet and depicts a small boy answering his enormous Nexus 6.

The humor here is apparent, as the Motorola-made Nexus 6 (Shamu) is expected to sport a 5.9″ QHD display. The video also links to the campaign’s web page, which is unavailable. It should go live with the launch of the phone and Android L, though. Read more »
