Samsung has cut the retail price of the Galaxy Gear smartwatch. The gadget was launched back in September and even though it’s the best spec’d wearable on the market, Galaxy Gear remained rather unpopular because of its hefty price tag.

Samsung has released Galaxy Gear worldwide and it was priced at $300 for the USA, €300 in Europe and Rs. 22,290 ($356) in India. Those prices were rather steep indeed, but that’s about to change now. Read more »

Pebble’s appstore is live since yesterday but was an iOS exclusive up until now.

Samsung has secured the smartphone crown and it was clear the next battle with Apple will be over tablets. Strategy Analytics reports that Samsung is catching up to Apple by overtaking the iPad maker in emerging markets.

Apple had the biggest market share in 2012 in all markets, but in 2013 Samsung pulled out in front in Central and Eastern Europe (25% market share), Latin America (22.8%), the Middle East and Africa (18.3%). Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo shares lots of common features with the original Note 3 model, but is powered by a brand new hexa-core Exynos 5260 chipset with two Cortex-A15 @ 1.7GHz and four Cortex-A7 @ 1.3GHz cores. We have never met this chipset and we were really curious about its battery management. We also wondered if the lower resolution will help the Neo outlast its bigger brother, given that batteries are almost equally matched – 3,100 mAh for the Neo vs 3,200 mAh for the original Galaxy Note 3

The HTC Desire 700 dual sim is reporting for battery testing duty with a 2,100 mAh juice pack, the only 200 mAh smaller than what the HTC One has. With a screen of far lower resolution and a far less demanding chipset it actually looks capable of beating its elite stablemate here.

UK retailer Zavvi has slashed the price of the Nexus 7 (2012) 32GB model to £99 – a whopping £80 off its usual retail price. Before you rush to order one yourself, though, be mindful that this is not for a brand-new unit, but for a refurbished one.

Still, Zavvi claims this is a “manufacturer grade A refurb”, which means it should be the next best thing. Shipments will commence on February 3 and it’s not clear how much 2012 Nexus 7′s are in stock. Read more »

The Evernote’s beta app for Android has gained handwriting support and now lets you scribble down notes or just doodle around, saving everything as is – not transforming your handwriting into neat text like on the Galaxy Note 3 for example.

You’d never think that an affordable offering such as the Motorola Moto G with no IP rating or anything will survive being submerged under water for even a few second. When Motorola said it’s wrapping the insides of the phone with a water-resistant nano-coating, many though that’s more of a marketing trick, than anything else.

Archos will be releasing three tablets in a new line of products called “Neon.”

Since Lenovo has purchased Motorola Mobility from Google, they’re going to be hard at work on a variety of Android devices.

As a refresher – Lenovo bought Motorola Mobility from Google for $2.91 billion yesterday, which would make it around two and a half years since Google bought Moto for $12.5 billion in 2011.

So by using simple math, you get that Google has lost some $9.6 billion in that span right, only getting a rich patent portfolio to show for it? Adding the money Motorola drained from Google on a quarterly basis the figure is even over $10 cool billion. Well, not exactly. Some analysts are estimating the figure to be only half as big. SamMobile has been able to gain access to a new app that Samsung intends to launch with the Galaxy S5. Dubbed Life Times, it’s sort of a personal diary app, which collects information from a list of apps in order to create a comprehensive log.

Life Times automatically gathers information from the list of apps (Camera, Email, Location, Memo, Messages, Music, phone and S Health as well as a list of social networks), which makes it similar to Samsung’s Story Album app. This begs the question if Life Times is destined to replace it or not.
