In case you haven’t heard HP is preparing to launch a webOS-based tablet called TouchPad this summer. It will run on the tablet-optimized webOS 3.0 that nobody has seen. Up until now.
Today five screenshots taken from a webOS 3.0 emulator escaped into the wild for our viewing pleasure. Read more »
PSX4Droid is a PSOne emulator for Android that has been for sale in the Android Market for eight months now. It allows you to play various PlayStation One games on your Android smartphone. We already informed you it has been pulled for “Content Policy Violation”, just when the Sony Ericsson XPERIA Play was about to roll out.
It seems Sony Ericsson has pulled some strings to get the emulator out of the Market. It was there for eight months on a $6 price. Was it in violation – it could be, but Google didn’t have any problem taking a share of its profit until now.
But “surprisingly” Google has changed its position and it not only banned from the Market but suspended the developer’s account too. Read more »
The story I am about to retell you starts in China. Some guy finds a really cheap portable 500GB USB hard drive in a store there. He buys one after he has it tested in the shop.
Then he goes home (in Russia) and starts filling it with data. But the drive doesn’t seem to work properly. You upload a movie on it, and you can only play just a few minutes from it. Why?
Here is what the guys at the near repair shop found out. Read more »
It’s not so common for carriers to make such a great video presentation that actually catches ours (and yours) attention. But Vodafone has a history with viral videos involving mobile phones and the guys from the UK branch did a great job presenting the evolution of the mobile phone in a special video.
It’s so good that in the end when the question “What’s next?” pops out, you are already so hooked that you would really want to know the answer.
Fring is preparing an update for its apps, which will add four-way group video calls. The service will work on iOS, Android and Symbian and best of all, it will allow for cross-platform video conferencing too.
Some blurry iPod Touch 4G photos have just surfaced today. They show an unseen prototype of the 4th generation iPod Touch with a touch-sensitive Home button.
The device runs on the iOS 4.2.1, packs 128GB storage and has a MC550LL model number. Read more »
It was just yesterday we saw a bunch of Windows 8 screenshots from the latest (Milestone 3) alpha release. Today we got something even better – a few shots from the tablet-oriented Immersive UI of Windows 8.
The Immersive web browser in Windows 8 for tablets
The screenshots above are taken from the Immersive browser, which implements the Metro UI, but acts as the desktop Internet Explorer 9. It was designed to work on a specific resolution, which resulted in the improper displaying. Read more »
It was just a few days ago when Google announced the +1 vote for the search results. Well now it is already available for testing, you just need to go to Google Labs and activate it.
The best part of the +1 idea is far away from the social scene though. Google will record every +1 vote to a specific website and will use that data to improve its search results.
The SP1 for Windows 7 hit the PCs around the world only recently, but Microsoft is already prepping the next Windows installment – version 8. Some developers aleady have access to an alpha version (Milestone 3) and we get to see a a glimpse of it right now.
The most important visual change you’ll notice is the tabbed (ribbon) structured menu on various places. It’s similar to the Microsoft Office 2010 looks and honestly, it’s quite ugly. Read more »
Apple may have tightened the security on the iOS 4.3 with the .1 update, but the developers have beaten them once again. The new redsn0w version is out and it jailbreaks every Apple device running (officially) iOS 4.3.1, but the iPad 2 and the CDMA iPhone 4.
The Qualcomm’s Snapdragon MSM8660 chipset is the latest big platform to power the next generation mobile devices. It packs a dual-core 1.5GHz Scorpion processor and Adreno 220 graphics.
The benchmarks you are about to see were made on a Snapdragon Mobile Development Platform (MDP) device. It’s a fully functional device manufactured by Qualcomm for demonstrating and development purposes.
Hold your wild thoughts, guys. It’s not exactly the sci-fi stuff you’ve may imagined. I’m sure Samsung will get there too, but for now it’s only started manufacturing 22-inch transparent panels relying on ambient light instead of some kind of backlighting.
The 22-inch transparent LCD panel has 1680×1050 pixels resolution, HDMI and UDB ports. It has two models – a monochrome one with 20% transparency and a full-color one with 15% transparency.
Apple has just released a new developer preview of the Mac OS X Lion. It comes after a whole month without any updates on the first release and once again you can get it through the Mac AppStore only.
It’s been almost six months since the N8 hit the market, but the Finns have no intention of stopping its marketing campaign. I’ve already lost count of all the movies, covers, pictures, etc. shot with the 12-megapixel cameraphone, but here is a new batch. This time Nokia has invited popular aerial photographer Jason Hawkes to take some nice heli-shots of Britain’s most beautiful places as part of Nokia’s HD Horizons project.
