Instagram has updated its Android app today, with a new iOS version coming soon as well. Both should have the same features. Speaking of which, with this release Instagram intros two new image alteration tools: Color and Fade.

When it comes to one-to-one battle games, Mortal Kombat is the first name that crosses an avid gamer’s mind. The popular martial arts style fighting game will get a new installment dubbed Mortal Kombat X on April 14 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC while the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions are expected in coming months.

Samsung is gearing up for the launch of its brand new smartwatch and what was previously known as Orbis will apparently come to market as the more corporately-friendly Gear A. The round piece of wearable tech has had a few more details revealed.

The Gear A will have two versions, one will be limited to Bluetooth connectivity, while the other will offer full-fledged voice calling support and 3G data connection. Both of these will presumably have a Wi-Fi radio on board too. Read more »

Last year at CES Huawei unveiled the first router in the Honor family, the Huawei Honor Cube, which ran Android and had a built-in HDD. Now the company is working on a much cheaper router – just CNY 188 (about $30) – called Glory.

This has been achieved through a clever mix of aggressive pricing, gorilla marketing through a strong online presence and community, as well as a quite diverse and often odd product portfolio to cater to various demands. Leonard Nimoy, popularly known as Spock from the space fiction movie series Star Trek, passed away on February 27 and made the character Spock immortal. Even Apple is preparing to pay homage to Nimoy and Spock with a new Star Trek themed Spock emoji for OS X and iOS.

If you use Twitter, you’d have noticed that the ‘quote’ tweet button is entirely useless. It adds the entire tweet of the person in your tweet with their handle and quotation marks, which often leaves no space to add your own comment to it, in which case you’d rather just use the retweet button.

A better way to quote someone then was to add a link to their tweet with your comment, which is precisely how the new quote button works now. It lets you type your comment with the URL of the quoted tweet automatically added to the tweet. The URL cuts into some of the 140 characters but it’s not as bad as having the entire contents of the tweet using up the space. Read more »

Disney announced that the popular science-fiction fantasy saga Star Wars will be available as a digital download for the first time ever. The entire collection of 6 movies will arrive in Digital HD later this week, on April 10.

Back in January, Razer announced the Forge TV, a console that’s probably the best Android TV-running device yet (when considering specs and capabilities). And today it’s finally become available for pre-order. Amazon is offering the console bundled with a game controller for $149.99, with free shipping.

It looks like there’s no escaping the ongoing resolution escalation race – be it in mobile devices or computers. So, in a way, an 8K iMac makes perfect sense. On the other hand, the existence of this device has been leaked by LG – and such a big company doing something like this isn’t something you see often.

LG Display is one of Apple’s biggest suppliers of screens, and last week it published a piece explaining 8K (7,680×4,320) resolution panels, obviously saying this will be the future of display technology. Buried in that report, however, was an explicit mention of an 8K iMac that Apple is working on. Read more »

Samsung may have put out an official rebuttal video for the Galaxy S6 edge ‘bendgate’ problem earlier today, but LG still found it fitting to mock its Korean competitor. A few hours ago, LG’s arm in Jordan tweeted the picture you can see below, accompanied by the following text: “Some curves just make sense. #bendgate”.

So it’s pretty clear that the Galaxy S6 edge is the target of this attack, based on the bend test report published by Square Trade last week. Read more »

The Motorola Moto 360 was the first round-screened Android Wear smartwatch, though since then a number of competitors have appeared. The 360, despite its name, had a characteristic “flat tire” design – a small section of the bottom was cut off to make room for the touchscreen’s control elements.

Apple’s fans have often been the object of mockery for their blind following of the brand’s latest (arguably) overpriced and underspecced devices. Samsung’s supporters have typically been considered slightly more level-headed with the exception of the occasional determined fanboy.
