NetAplications has made a chart comparing browser hits by platform covering the last two years shows that Android has caught on with the iPhone but that the iPad is still dominating the mobile traffic.
Also, according to IBM, iOS devices accounted for 18.5% of all online transactions this Black Friday, compared to just 5.5% for Android.
Nintendo announced the Wii Mini – it’s a smaller and lighter version of the original Wii console sans the internet connection.
The new Wii Mini is intended as a gaming only device and is able to run all original Wii games. GameCube compatibility won’t be available though.
When Nokia released its TV spot showing off the image stabilization of the Lumia 920, it got into a bit of trouble because it turned out the video wasn’t shot on a Lumia 920 at all.
Now that it’s on the market, some Lumia enthusiasts have taken it upon themselves to recreate the original ad, this time with the smartphone itself.
Recently, Google updated the comment system on YouTube and allowed users to use their Google+ profile ID in place of a generic YouTube ID to appear next to their comments. Now they have done something similar for the Google Play.
Now when you try to leave a review on Google Play, it will tell you that your reviews will appear under your Google+ profile ID. Unlike with YouTube, however, you don’t really get any say in the matter.
We enjoy putting phones through their paces in our office, but as a manufacturer, Samsung too subjects its phones to a host of reliability tests before launching them on the market. And it’s a different type of tests, mind you. A Samsung made video gives you a rare glimpse behind the curtains of their test facilities.
It’s a video ad, that’s alright, but none of these tests seems staged. I’m sure most (if not all) Samsung phones go through stringent testing procedures like these (even employing the help of “I sat on my phone” buttocks dummy). Key press tests, USB socket rigidness, twisting and flexing, abrasive action by vibrating foreign objects, and even rain – it’s all there.
Samsung released a 13 minute-long walkthrough for its Galaxy Camera Android-powered digicam. It’s really worth it if you don’t have a store with a demo unit, but you are considering getting the device.
In case you need a refresh, the Galaxy Camera features a similar hardware to the Galaxy S III flagship smartphone (4.8” LCD HD screen, a quad-core 1.4GHz processor, Mali-400MP GPU, 1GB RAM) and runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.
Amazon has slashed the prices of its updated Kindle Fire tablets both in the UK and now in the US to celebrate Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While Black Friday is mostly an American thing, UK customers got to buy the revamped 7″ tablet for just £99 (with ads), which led to a record number of units sold.
US customers shouldn’t feel left out – they can get the Fire tablet at just $129 ($30 off, again with ads).
Nokia has just introduced a couple of new members of its Asha family today and, as the tradition goes in such cases, the company released a few promo videos to demo their strengths.
The QWERTY-packing Nokia Asha 205 had a single clip dedicated to it, while the Asha 206 got two videos. Check them out after the break.
It has been brought to our attention that the Nexus 4 does not support USB On-The-Go functionality, even though Google says that it does.
Although Google does not advertise this feature, it is mentioned in the user guide (jump to page 43). However, several users on xda-developers forum are confirming that this functionality is not actually available on the device.
Back in August we had heard that Facebook was urging its employees, who mostly use iPhones that the company gave them, to switch to Android. The reason behind this was they knew that the Android version of their app sucks and that they wanted their employees to dogfood their app and report back on what’s wrong with it.
Apparently, Facebook hasn’t given up on that initiative and is continuing to urge its employees to switch to Android, as can be seen by these new posters found on Facebook’s Menlo Park campus.
With the Nokia Lumia 820 exclusive to AT&T in the United States, the Finnish manufacturer had to resort to rebranding tactics in order to put its mid-range Windows Phone 8 offering on other carrier’s shelves. The Nokia Lumia 810 for T-Mobile is one such product – the stealthy looking handset is essentially a clone of the Lumia 820 with some minor tweaks thrown in.
Like its 920 and 820 siblings, the Nokia Lumia 810 packs a dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chipset and a gig of RAM.
Some of you may be familiar with Paper Monsters, which was released on iOS back in January this year. While it took its time, the Android version of the game has finally been released and is now available on Google Play.

Apple’s AirPlay is a fantastic feature. You connect your Apple TV and then you just beam content from your iOS and OS X device wirelessly with no setup required. It just works. Unfortunately, it just works on Apple’s devices.
Google is now said to be working on a similar feature for it’s own set of products, namely, Android and Google TV. Unlike Apple’s version, however, Google’s service will be open and will allow other software and hardware vendors to implement it in their products.

A lot of people have done the same, which is why the video is now the most watched video in the history of YouTube.
The video, which at last count had 805,055,375 views since it was uploaded on July 15, 2012, just went past the previous record holder, which was Canadian singer Justin Bieber’s ‘Baby’ that at last count had 803,732,561 views but was uploaded over two years ago, on February 19, 2010.
Singer and musician Will.i.am (Black Eyed Peas) is getting ready to release its own line of iPhone accessories. But these are not your run-of-the-mill accessories, we’re talking serious stuff. His lineup will be called i.am+ and the first accessory will be shell, which adds a real 14MP camera to the smartphone.
