Google’s desktop Web browser has inched past Firefox in market share calculated for June 2014 by Net Applications. Chrome went from 17.7% in May to 19.3% last month.

Windows 8 has come under a lot of fire for not being desktop computer friendly. Sure the tile approach may work for tablets, but the experience just doesn’t translate well to a mouse and keyboard set-up. Users made their discontent be known: they wanted their desktop experience back.

We heard about iTunes U a while back as part of Apple’s foray into the educational market. Right now the app doesn’t have that much functionality; it’s primarily reserved for reading textbooks.

Nividia spokesperson has confirmed to Fudzilla that the company’s Tegra Note 7 tablet unveiled back in February is definitely going to receive an update to Android L.

The Tegra Note 7 is powered by the Tegra 4 chipset and came with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean out of the box. Currently, the tablet is updated to Android 4.4.2 KitKat, but no exact date has been provided as to when the update to L might come. Read more »

Guess what – Google+ isn’t Google’s first go at a social network. Back before social networks were as popular as today, around the same time when Facebook was just getting started after Myspace paved the way, there was Orkut. The social network didn’t really leave a big mark in its 10 year tenure but has been used widely in Brazil and India.

Now that Google’s Google+, YouTube and Blogger are moving forward and luring users by the quarter Google, and Father Time, have finally caught up to Orkut. The service will be shutting down on September 30 of this year and effective today isn’t accepting new registrations. Read more »

Samsung has launched a new advertising campaign in the Netherlands today, and the Korean company is using well known Dutch model Doutzen Kroes to get its point across.

4K video recording has started to become a staple feature of all the flagship Android smartphone these days. But the version of 4K that these phones record in is the UHD resolution, or the ones used by 4K televisions, and is exactly four times the resolution of full HD.

But there is another version of 4K and that is DCI 4K, which is what the professional cinema cameras use while recording in 4K. The difference here is the added width; whereas UHD is 3840×2160, DCI 4K is 4096×2160. But while several smartphones record in UHD, the OnePlus One is the first to record in DCI 4K. Read more »

Microsoft’s Windows Phone platform, which decided to forego separating its applications into folders as part of its “Metro” UI, is apparently willing to reconsider this decision.

The latest ad for the iPhone 5s focuses on parenthood and how people use their phone (or the iPhone 5s, in this case) for help while dealing with their kids. It’s a lovely ad as usual and more than the phone itself it showcases the wide variety of apps that are available for it, which has been a recurring theme of all their recent iPhone and iPad ads. After our meeting with the Samsung Gear Fit at the Mobile World Congress, we were left wanting for more so when we got it at the office we spent a lot of time with the device on wrist to test its many fitness and smartphone companion features in full.

The Samsung Gear Fit is the third smartwatch to come out of this year’s Gear generation but isn’t quite as functional as the Gear 2 and Neo. It it is closer to the fitness band market than to the fully functional smartwatches. For starters the Fit lacks a microphone and speaker so you won’t be able to take calls on it like you would on the other Gears. There’s no speaker too. What there is – a curved 1.84″ Super AMOLED screen that’s simply gorgeous and more intuitive to use. Read more »
