Apple’s iPad, iMac and OS X Yosemite event is now all done and as we reflect on it there were many highs, plenty of innovation even, but one particularly low point – the new iPad mini 3.
Apple gave the new iPad Air 2 a heap of time on stage because of its new 8MP iSight camera, its over the top 6.1mm frame, its new A8X chipset, its TouchID home button and its gold option. Apple announced a brand new iMac with 5K Retina display. The main highlight of the desktop powerhouse is its 27” display – it has the barely believable resolution of 5120 x 2880 pixels.

Apple’s NFC-based new mobile payment initiative will start rolling out on Monday, October 20. The information was made official at the company’s event today, during which it’s expected to also announce the new iPad Air 2 and iPad Mini 3. Interestingly, that’s the exact date that has been rumored at the beginning of the month.

A Windows 8.1 tablet for $65? “Ha!” says NuFront, the chipset maker that has created $54 Android tablets. Unlike their Windows competitors the NuFront-based tabs have 3G connectivity out of the box – HSPA+, to be precise.

It has been almost a month since Apple launches the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus and the smartphone duo has already reached more than 21 million customers. According to data obtained by Typhone.nl, Apple sold about 4 million iPhone 6 Plus and 17 million iPhone 6 units.

A Google+ album has surfaced containing unimaginative but important pictures. The creator, one Duan Dao, claims the images in the album have been captured with the mint-fresh Motorola Nexus 6.
Some of the images have been resized and all of them lack EXIF data so we can’t really be sure if the claim is true but some images carry the 4160x3120px (13MP) resolution of the Nexus 6 giving the claim some credibility. Read more »

The first device to run Android TV is the previously leaked Asus Nexus Player, announced today alongside the Nexus 6 phablet and the Nexus 9 tablet. The Nexus Player is a set-top-box / console that you connect to your existing TV, and it even comes with an optional gamepad accessory.
