China’s top smartphone player Xiaomi, which is also the world’s third-largest mobile handset vendor, is expected to launch its next flagship, allegedly dubbed Mi 5, this week. Previous rumors have indicated that the device will sport a 20- or a 16-megapixel rear camera, but some latest leaked photos (see below), which were allegedly taken using the device, suggest otherwise.

According to a report from GizmoChina, which first spotted the pictures, they carry the Xiaomi Mi5 name in their EXIF information, and were taken with a resolution of 4208×3120, which indicates that the device will sport a 13 megapixel camera. Read more »

Asus has launched a contest giving fans a chance to create a watchface and see their design feature on the company’s ZenWatch devices, as well as win one of their own. The contest, dubbed Face the Future ASUS ZenWatch Face Design Contest, runs through February 28, and is open to users all over the world.

You may remember Falcon Pro as the popular but ill-fated app on the Play Store that had to be pulled by the developer after it hit Twitter’s asinine API limit. The app has since then been available for free from the developer’s website, assuming you could work your way around the little easter egg to unlock and use the app.

The developer has now released a brand new Twitter app called Falcon Pro 3, which despite the name is not an update to the previous app but a new app altogether. The developer has made the app free to download but you will have to pay $3.99 to add the first Twitter account and every subsequent account will cost you $1.99 extra. A new rumor suggests Google might be unveiling a real-time voice translation system sooner rather than later. Skype already offers a similar functionality as of last month.

This year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) that took place in Las Vegas broke all records to become the largest show in history, according to a VentureBeat report. The event witnessed a total of over 170,000 attendees (of which over 45,000 were from outside the US) compared to around 160,000 a year ago.

“This CES vastly exceeded our expectations. The show inspired and likely gave almost every attendee a sense that innovation will provide solutions to a range of global issues from the environment and agriculture to transportation, health and safety,” said Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA). The AccuWeather app for Android has received an update which enables it to work on Android Wear smartwatches. The update is currently undergoing a phased rollout, so if you have the app and don’t yet have the new version, it should make its way to you within a few days.

Apple has raised the minimum price for apps in the App Store. Apple announced the upcoming change back in December and it now applies for all EU countries and Canada.
