Google’s alleged smartwatch is in the final stages of its development and the search giant is said to be in talks with Asian hardware suppliers to begin the mass production of the hotly anticipated accessory.

After the first rumors of a Retina-packing iPad mini surfaced earlier this year, several sources close to Apple’s supply chain indicated that panel shortages might limit availability.

Apple has an event set for tomorrow, October 22, and the wall Street Journal is confirming that the stars of the show will be two new iPads – the new mini and a new version of the 9.7″ model. There might be Mac-related announcements too.
While not official, the news that the iPad mini 2 will be at the event tomorrow is slightly surprising as there were quite a few reports on the low yields of the new 7.9″ Retina display, meaning the tablet won’t make it in time for the holidays or at least won’t be widely available. Read more »

The images show the iPad mini 2 next to the iPhone 5s and with another iPad lurking in the background. Notice how the home button isn’t TouchID but a vanilla one? Previous leaks suggested the iPad mini 2 will have TouchID, but this seems to put those speculations to rest. Read more »

Google teased its latest Android release, version 4.4 KitKat, a month ago. The upcoming version of Android OS is expected to be available this month alongside the upcoming Nexus 5 and as we are nearing the official announcement, the leaks are picking up intensity.

We’ve been hearing that Windows Phone and Windows RT might merge but a new rumor suggests it will be more like Phone displacing RT. Microsoft is working on a Windows Phone 8.1 update, which will allegedly add support for 7 to 10 inch screens to enable WP8.1-powered tablets and merge parts of the API so developers can easily create apps for both platforms.
Multitasking is reportedly the biggest issue ahead of this plan – the GDR3 update will let users close apps manually, but apps running in the background are still a no go. Not until the 8.1 update that is. Read more »

A new photo of the Nokia Lumia 2520 Windows RT tablet indicates that the rumored tablet will follow in the footsteps of the Microsoft Surface tablet and have a kickstand on its back. The image is low quality and doesn’t even show the whole tablet, so trust it at your own risk.

The Glance Screen is a really great feature of the Lumia range. It’s a tribute to the MeeGo lockscreen (and Symbian smartphones), where you can always see a clock and get any missed events listed right on the standby screen.

Google launched its own music streaming services at its I/O event this summer. The Google Play Music All Access has been exclusive to the Android platform since then, but we might soon see a native Google Music app for iOS, according to a report from Engadget.
Google is said to have started testing out its native iOS app and the new service will allegedly launch later this month. The app seems to have a few bugs, which need fixing before the final version of the app is out for public. Read more »
Sources close to Apple’s supply chain of its iPad tablet department claim that a large-scale rollout of the anticipated iPad Mini with retina display won’t be taking place this year, if at all.
