The Ativ S should go on sale some time this month, but Samsung is yet to confirm the first countries to get its WP8 smartphone. HTC’s Butterfly, the droid with the 5″ 1080p screen, started off in Japan, moved to the US and has now finally gone international. It keeps the same cool specs as the country-specific versions, including the high-res S-LCD3 and the Snapdragon S4 Pro chipset.

We reported a few days ago about the Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy S III, which brings with it Samsung’s Premium Suite features, features that are basically borrowed from the bigger Galaxy Note II.

Samsung opened its first Samsung Mobile Store in Paris, France on December 1. It’s dedicated to mobile devices only and offers a similar experience and support as the Apple’s Retail Stores.

Nokia just unveiled a third member of its Windows Phone 8 lineup, the Nokia Lumia 620. It’s a budget offering that will take on the HTC Windows Phone 8S. Anyway, the first promo video for Nokia’s new phone is out and it offers a glimpse at the looks of the phone and its many colors (7 in total).

Last year in December we reported about the #DroidRage trend that Microsoft started on Twitter, asking Android users their horror stories about using their phones and the people with the best stories would get a free Windows Phone 7 device.

Everyone is talking about how fast the 4G LTE data speeds are but most people seem to have forgotten that 4G was supposed to bring a new VoIP-based calling to replace the old circuit-switched 2G and 3G systems. So, why isn’t Voice-over-LTE (VoLTE) here yet? The answer seems to be battery life.

Roughly a month after its Windows RT sibling made it to the market, Microsoft announced pricing and availability of its Surface Pro slate. The tablet will be available in January, priced at $899 for a model with 64GB of memory, and $999 for a version with 128GB built-in.

The Microsoft Surface Pro will not come bundled with a Touch or Type cover. You will have to spend some extra cash to have one of the handy covers at your service. The tablet will however, come with a Surface pen with Palm Block technology in the box. Read more »

The CyanogenMod team has been teasing version 10.1 (that’s based on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean) for various devices with just screenshots, but Nexus 4 users can now actually grab a nightly release of the ROM and take it for a spin.

Sailfish OS is the big hope of MeeGo fans everywhere. Jolla, the people behind Sailfish, showed off their creative new UI about a week ago and how it takes MeeGo’s heavily swipe-based interface even further. But the short video was not enough for all the MeeGo enthusiasts out there, so Jolla’s CEO, Marc Dillon, took the time to answer some user questions.
