Yesterday, Tim Cook penned a letter to iOS 6 users, apologizing for the sorry state of their new Maps application and promised that they are working hard to make it better. While most would have stopped at that, Cook went on to suggest alternative mapping services that users can use till Apple Maps becomes usable.
Now, Apple has gone one step ahead and created a section in the App Store that can you can find on your iPhone, titled ‘Find Maps for your iPhone’. Clicking on it will show you a bunch of different mapping services, free and paid, that you can download and install on your iOS device. Read more »

Rovio did it again! Just 3 hours after its launch, the company’s latest game Bad Piggies went on top of the U.S. AppStore charts.
The news come from Rovio’s Ville Heijari, who proudly announced the milestone. Still, it isn’t all that surprising, considering the Finns’ track record with mobile games. Read more »
Just before the Japanese launch of the iPhone 5, three stores were robbed of a total of 191 units. Then about a week ago, an employee of a London O2 store made off with an entire shipment of 250 iPhone 5s, which are worth about £100,000.
Now there’s a report that on Tuesday there was yet another major iPhone 5 theft, which occurred in France. The number of units stolen wasn’t confirmed, but the whole thing played out like a heist movie. Read more »
A survey conducted by research company On Device shows that users who upgraded to Apple’s iOS6 mobile OS aren’t as less happy with their smartphones than they were before the update.
The survey included 16,000 people, and On Device says this is the first time it is seeing such a drop in user satisfaction after an update. The analysts found this pretty surprising, considering how well users reacted to the transition from iOS4 to iOS5. Read more »
Google has released updates for Chrome across the board with a new version for Windows, OS X and Android respectively. On the desktop, Chrome, now updated to v22, gains the Mouse Lock API, which lets you play games inside the browser window without having to worry about the mouse pointer escaping the window or bumping into the sides. Basically the pointer will be locked to the window of the browser. You can try it out with this demo.
Other changes include additional enhancements for the upcoming Windows 8 and improvements for HiDPI or Retina display users on the new MacBook Pro. Read more »
The latest Apple iPhone is in our office and it’s ready to try and impress us. It’s thinner, much lighter, and faster in every aspect and although similar in shape, it feels completely different than the iPhone 4S.

We all saw the absurdly long lines in front of the Apple Stores full of people waiting for days (or even weeks) to be among the first ones to get hold of the spanking new iPhone 5. The browser war on the desktop is very heated, but in the mobile space things are pretty calm – the overwhelming majority of Android and iOS users use the default browser on their device.

It’s known that the aluminum shell of the iPhone 5 has been plagued by chipping issues and that has certainly made a lot of iPhone 5 owners quite unhappy. One of them even wrote an email to Apple’s Senior VP of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller and much to his surprise, he got a response.

Apple may be working hard to get rid of preinstalled Google apps on iOS devices iPhone, but Google is pushing the other way with high-quality apps like YouTube and Chrome. GOOG just updated the Chrome for iOS to make it compatible with the new iPhone 5 and it also fixed a Gmail-related issue.

Today Apple announced the iPhone 5 broke a new record – 5 million units sold in the first three days of its market availability. The press release contained some statistics about the iOS 6 updates as well.
