Apple releases new iPhone 5s holiday ad: ‘Misunderstood’

Apple has released a new holiday ad for the iPhone 5s with a Christmas theme. The ad shows an extended family getting together to celebrate Christmas under one roof.

The ad features a boy who is shown being busy on his phone, while everyone around him is taking part in the festivities. This is a common sight now that we see everywhere, with people having their faces buried in their smartphones even when they are in the company of others, being socially reclusive. ‘Angry Birds Go!’ for iOS, Android and Windows Phone 8 game review

After teasing the game a few months back and doing a soft launch in New Zealand, Rovio finally launched Angry Birds Go! internationally across all major mobile platforms. Angry Birds Go! is the first 3D Angry Birds game and features go-kart racing along the lines of Mario Kart and Sonic Racing.

Rovio certainly has a popular franchise on its hands. Let’s see if it can successfully shoehorn it in a completely different genre the way Nintendo and SEGA did. Read more »

Google Maps Navigation reaches 25 new countries

Google has expanded the reach of Maps Navigation to 25 new countries across Africa, Europe, Central America and Asia.

Google Maps Navigation, which is still carrying the beta tag, is now available in 99 countries. The coverage in newly added countries is said to include all the major roads covered with turn-by-turn navigation. Read more »

Cut the Rope 2 video shows gameplay, new characters

We already know that Cut the Rope 2 will debut on December 19 as an iOS exclusive with an Android version following suit early next year.

But now Zeptolab has launched a trailer for the upcoming title which shows some new characters, gameplay and is quite entertaining to watch. We can’t wait for the game to hit – it will cost $0.99 for iPhone and we’re guessing will be either free with ads or the same price on Android smartphones when it drops. Read more »

PebbleOS V1.14 goes official with new Do Not Disturb feature

Pebble has officially announced the latest version of its PebbleOS. The newest firmware has version 1.14 and comes with a couple of cool new features, improvements and fixes to enhance the overall performance.

Instagram Direct allows you to share your photos and videos with friends

Instagram announced today a new feature called Direct, which enables you to share your videos and photos to a select friends or a group of friends.

The new feature was announced at a special Instagram event by the company’s CEO Kevin Systrom. He also shared that Instagram now boasts 150 million users, raising from 80 million in the beginning of the year. Read more »

‘Plants vs. Zombies 2′ gets a major update

EA/PopCap has pushed a major update for Plants vs. Zombies 2 for the holiday season. One of the changes is an upgrade to the map to make game progression quicker and easier. If you read our review of the game, you may remember we mentioned that although the game is fun, it makes you go back and play older levels (although with different gameplay) to earn stars to unlock the next world, which could get a bit tiresome. Thankfully, the new update fixes that.

Other changes include new Piñata Party levels, ability to invite friends and gift them in-game items and a new Turbo mode that makes the game faster by speeding up the planting but also the zombies, which is sure to make the game even more frantic. Twitter updates iOS and Android apps, brings new UI and photo DMs

Twitter has rolled out version 6.0 update for its iOS and Android mobile applications, which bring with it some big new changes. The most obvious one is the redesign on both versions, unique to their platform. The iPhone version gets a new white themed bar at the bottom unlike the black on the previous version. The ‘Connect’ tab has been replaced with ‘Notifications’ (essentially the same thing) and ‘Discover’ tab has been replaced by ‘Messages’.

Twitter is pushing their Activity and Discover section in a big way with the latest updates, that show you activity of the people you follow and other people on Twitter respectively. On the iPhone, you now swipe on your timeline to go to the new sections, indicated by the three dots at the top. Read more »

Apple’s 12 Days of Gifts includes the US this time around

Apple is setting up its annual 12 Days of Gifts promotion and for the first time it will allow US users to join in on the giveaway (Canada and Europe got stuff in previous years but not the US). Each day between December 26 and January 6, people with an iOS 7 running iDevice will be able to download a free gift.
