The time for the iPhone 6 teardown is now upon us and we get to see the phone’s innards for the first time. As per usual, it is done by the professionals over at iFixit, who have rated the phone 7/10 for repairability, just like its biger brother.
The teardown gurus didn’t like the proprietary pentalobe screws used by Apple and express their objection of Apple not sharing repair information with independent repair shops. Read more »
In lieu of Apple’s detailed commitment to user privacy, Google followed suit by laying out its own plans for handling the matter. The search giant will begin encrypting user data by default starting with the next major mobile OS release, currently known as Android L.
Android encryption has been available since 2011. Read more »
Apple iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are already on sale in Australia, so the crafty folks from iFixit already went to work on Cupertino’s first phablet. As always, the device’s disassembly reveals quite a few juicy bits, which Apple doesn’t typically talk about.
The most important iPhone 6 Plus questions that the iFixit teardown answers are related to the amount of RAM the handset packs, as well as the size of its battery. Read more »
The fallout of the massive iCloud hacking scandal that leaked numerous private photos of female celebrities is is surely yet to play out.

There is no doubt the new iPhone 6 and especially the iPhone 6 Plus are aimed squarely at the flagship Android devices. Tim Cook himself admitted in a recent interview that it is an opportunity for them to switch people from Android to iOS, and they are doing everything they can to win back those people who they lost to Android because they didn’t have a big screen phone.
Well, other than just having a big screen phone, Apple is also helping out people who might be on the fence to switching over. One thing they did is put up a support page on their website that details how you can go about migrating your content from your Android phone to an iPhone. Read more »

The iPhone 6 measures just 6.9mm thick and as a result, the 8MP camera protrudes at the back. That’s not unseen before, but it certainly isn’t a very pretty sight and Apple is obviously not too proud of it.
Using clever angles and, in some places, seemingly image editing, the bulge in question isn’t visible at all in the official photos of the smartphone. That’s understandable, as Apple is driven by its desire to present the iPhone 6 in the best possible way in its promo materials.
Marketing is perhaps best left to the PR department but Huawei Chairman and CEO of the consumer division Yu Chengdong (aka Richard Yu) took to his Weibo account to tout his company’s products over the newly announced Apple iPhone 6 Plus.
Of course the Huawei Ascend Mate7 was used for the comparison, the 6″ flagship phablet that was announced at IFA. Read more »
This isn’t a joke! Apple has approved the Vizzywig 4K app for iPhone 5s, which enables 4K video recording with 24 fps on the 2013 smartphone. It costs $999.99 (€899.99) and works only on iPhone 5s with 32GB or 64GB storage.
The app captures 24 burst images per second in 4K resolution and then stitches them together in just 1s footage. This means you’ll lose about 72MB for each second of your video. This explains the requirement for the 32GB+ iPhone model! Read more »

The full game has now been ported over to iOS and is available on both, the iPhone and the iPad. There has been a reasonable amount of hype surrounding the iOS version, considering how popular the PC and console versions were, so let’s see how good the port is. Read more »
