LG makes fun of the iPhone. From an iPhone.

by 68 comments

It’s always fun to see other companies trip over themselves trying to come up with a joke on Apple every time the latter is going through some sort of controversy. This time it’s BendGate (yeah they just add -gate to everything now), where some iPhone 6 Plus units were found to be getting bent if enough force was applied to them (we’ll keep aside the fact that few were actual incidences and most were done on purpose on YouTube to get pageviews for now).

But while it’s cool to make fun of your competitors, the least you could do is, well. not use the product you are making fun of. Someone at LG France clearly forgot about this and in trying to join the #BendGate bandwagon ended up tweeting the joke from an iPhone, as revealed by Twitter. Read more »

Will it bend? The iPhone 6, One (M8), Moto X and Lumia 1020 edition

by 85 comments

Everyone knows that once a potential flaw is discovered in the new iPhone then all phones in existence must be tested for the same flaw. It happened with Antennagate and now it’s happening with Bendgate.

The Apple iPhone 6 Plus proved easy to deform under pressure so the smaller iPhone 6 was put under the same test along with the iPhone 5s, the HTC One (M8), another aluminum phone, the Motorola Moto X (2014) and the Nokia Lumia 1020. Read more »

‘Asphalt Overdrive’ now available on iOS, Android, and Windows Phone

by 59 comments

Gameloft has released its newest game in the Asphalt series, called the Asphalt Overdrive. Overdrive is a spinoff of the successful Asphalt series. This isn’t exactly Asphalt 9 that you may have been waiting for and features a different gameplay mechanic.

Asphalt Overdrive is essentially like an endless runner game but with cars. You drive a car (which runs automatically) and dodge obstacles in your path by swiping left or right. You jump off ramps and pull stunts in the air. You ram traffic on the side and when you earn enough nitro boost by doing all this you use it to evade the cops. Read more »

Apple iPhone 6 hands-on

by 125 comments

The Apple iPhone 6 is finally here at HQ and we’re eager to share some hands on impressions with the smaller of Apple’s flagship devices.

Before we dive into the action let’s get a sense for what the Apple iPhone 6 is. For starters it’s one of Apple’s first two big-screened phone – even if it comes at a time when 4.7″ is considered a mini’s display for Apple iPhone 5s users the iPhone 6 ushers in a big change. Read more »

Apple iPhone 6 Plus faces liquid nitrogen and a sledgehammer

by 124 comments

Destroying stuff is cool, especially when done with a creative flair. Too bad for the iPhone 6 Plus that it gets to star in most of them nowadays. The latest batch of videos is done by a popular YouTuber, who specializes in obliterating most of the hot tech to have come in the past couple of years.

The latest efforts of RatedRR focus on the iPhone 6 Plus and include five videos (one more is on the way) showcasing how Apple’s biggest smartphone to date can take a beating. Our personal favorite stars liquid nitrogen and a sledgehammer. Read more »

Check out how the new iPhone 6 camera stacks up against the previous seven generations

by 62 comments

The iPhone camera has come a long way. From the archaic (even for the time when it was launched) 2 megapixel sensor with fixed focus, no video recording, and no flash on the first two generations to the advanced 8 megapixel shooter with phase detection autofocus and 1080p60 video on the current generation model.

But while we often see the new device’s camera being compared to the previous generation model or with those of the rivals, we rarely see it being pitted against all of its predecessors. Of course, it’s going to be better. But sometimes it’s fun to see just how much something has evolved over the years. Read more »

Asphalt Overdrive for Android, iOS, Windows Phone launches on Thursday

by 82 comments

Just two days separate us from the next release in Gameloft’s Asphalt series of games. It’s going to be called Asphalt Overdrive (and not Asphalt 9, as you may have expected), and it will be out this Thursday, September 25, on Android, iOS, Windows Phone, and Windows 8. It will be free to download, but will feature in-app purchases.

This won’t be an arcade-style racer, but an endless racer. It’s like an endless runner, but with cars. Interestingly, you’ll play this one by holding your phone or tablet in a vertical, portrait orientation, and not landscape as you’re used to (hence the two screenshots above). Read more »

‘Goat Simulator’ for iOS and Android game review

by 70 comments

Goat Simulator is a third person simulation game featuring, well, a goat. If that sounds silly that’s because it’s supposed to be. The game was made sort of as a parody of all the simulation games that came out in the last couple of years on Steam. Despite the nature of the game, it ended up being quite popular.

Although initially launched on the PC, the game was later ported to Mac and Linux and is now available on iOS and Android. Let’s see how it fares on the smaller screen. Read more »
