Sony Xperia Z was announced back at CES in January and its popularity grows bigger by the day. We have already had the Sony Xperia Z for quite a while in our office and its in-depth review is over here but once the MWC wrapped up we were also able to complete its battery test.
The smartphone has a large 2330 mAh battery to rely on, but the quad-core Krait CPU and the 5″ 1080p display are known to consume quite a lot of power. The fact that the battery isn’t user-replaceable puts even more pressure on the Xperia Z to do well here, and we were as curious as you are to find out if that’s actually the case. Read more »
The LG Optimus G Pro is the current king of phablets – other phablets couldn’t put up much of a fight against the 5.5” 1080p screen or the Snapdragon 600 chipset. The phablet market exploded after the first Galaxy Note came around and quickly went from niche to millions of units and LG has engineered the Optimus G Pro to be the best in that field.
The screen is pretty amazing – it has excellent viewing angles (better than the Optimus G screen) and great colors. Read more »
Whilst here at LG’s booth on the MWC 2013 floor we had enough time to check out the LG Optimus G Pro from every angle.
So, the screen junkies that we are, we decided to get out the Galaxy S III and put its Super AMOLED 720p screen next to the True HD-IPS+ 1080p LCD of the G Pro. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Xcover 2 is one of the few smartphones with IP67 rating – it combines simple durability and advanced functions, so it needs to prove its endurance both when trekking in the wilderness, but also when enjoying modern conveniences like browsing the web.
A 1,700mAh battery is on the low side of what we would have imagined for a phone that’s likely to spend a lot of time away from an electricity socket, but let’s see if the Xcover 2 can counter the limited capacity with efficiency. Read more »
Samsung’s just-released LTE-toting midranger, the Samsung Galaxy Express, is the company’s first dual-core Krait offering for the international market.

The BlackBerry Z10 has serious ambitions to become the business phone, but there’s one major requirement – it should be able to last during long hours spent at the office or traveling between meetings.
With a 1,800mAh capacity the Z10 battery isn’t the biggest around, but it has an OS designed just for it at the moment (unlike Android that runs on many different devices with many different chipsets). Read more »
HTC One is now official and it’s maker is hoping it will be its best chance of reclaiming the smartphone throne yet. Armed with 4.7″ 1080p display of insane pixel density, a 1.7GHz quad-core Krait CPU and a build quality like that, the HTC One is certainly in the running for the smartphone of the season.
But competition might disagree and Sony in particular will be keen to point your attention in the direction of its own Xperia Z. So we decided to pit them against each other and see which one comes on top. The Samsung Galaxy S III joined the fun, too, to show how much smartphones have evolved for the better part of a year. The Oppo Find 5 has ambitions of playing in the big leagues – it certainly did well enough during our review to be allowed entry. But high-end phones with their powerful chipsets and big screens can munch through a battery in record time.
Good thing it has a 2,500mAh battery – Motorola’s MAXX phones aside, most 5” or less phones have far less juice. The battery’s non-removable, too so it’d better be good. Read more »
