Our iPad 2 marathon continues with the overview of the slate display specifics. It turns out that the key hardware part of the device is actually sourced from at least four different vendors as different tablets tend to have slightly different LCD units.
The differences aren’t big enough to justify looking for a display from a specific vendor, but might explain why your iPad 2 screen looks slightly different than your friend’s. Read more »
It was just three days ago when AMD launched the new graphic king and now its NVIDIA’s turn to show something new. The EVGA’s GTX 460 2WIN is made of two GTX 460 GPUs (700MHz) resulting in 672 CUDA cores, 2GB DDR5 (3600MHz), 3xDVI and 1xMini-HDMI ports.
As you can see it’s not the monster geared to fight with the titans, but it’s more of a budget card offering better performance for less money.
The king is dead. Long live the king! This is the exact words to describe the latest AMD creation – the dual-headed beast Radeon HD6990.
The HD6990 is the new “world’s fastest” card. It’s basically two HD6970 soldered into a single board. Unfortunately the price is also two times higher – $700.
The new Adobe Flash player 10.3 is now official for Windows, Mac and Linux. It’s still in beta form but nonetheless you can go and check it out pronto, should you be interested.
It brings along some enhanced privacy protection features including integration with browser privacy control for local storage, Native Control Panel and Auto-Update Notification for Mac OS, the latter being long overdue.
If you thought USB 3.0 was the future of connecting high-speed peripherals to your computer, then think again. Intel’s Thunderbolt I/O technology, formerly known as Light Peak, is now the new kid on the block and it is here to stay.
With the introduction of the newly announced MacBook Pro line-up yesterday, comes the first real-world implementation of the Intel Thunderbolt Technology. Basically, Thunderbolt is a faster and simpler way of plugging different devices to your system. Read more »
Today HP announced the TouchSmart 610 and 9300 Elite, part of the refreshed line of all-in-one TouchSmart PCs.
What’s novel about the two new all-in-one TouchSmart computers from HP is that they can have their screen recline to help with touch usability (it’s awkward to touch control a vertical monitor). The TouchSmart 9300 Elite has a screen, which Read more »
You didn’t see that coming did you? KFA2 has launched world’s first video card capable of wirelessly transmitting raw, uncompressed 1080P, 60Hz signal to the included WHDI receiver.
The wireless signal can be transmitted up to 30 meters (100 feet) even through walls and obstacles so you don’t need to worry about putting your PC in another room. This is quite useful if you want to put the PC away from your HDTV or monitor for whatever reason, and I am pretty sure you can find one one.
KFA2 NVIDIA GTX460 WHDI is just an ordinary GTX 460 but with wireless antennas. It features 1024 MB of RAM, 256-bit memory interface and a processor clocked at 1.35Ghz.
I have to admit, the card’s industrial design looks awesome! It will be available for sale in the coming weeks in Europe, with the price still unknown.
The fella in question with the rather mouthful of a name is developed by ASUS and the creators of Kinect’s motion-sensing camera system PrimeSense. With its main habitat being the living room, it allows you to control your TV-attached PC using full body interactions.
Browsing multimedia content, accessing the Internet and social networking are among some of the possible uses of the WAVI Xtion, which will be released in phases sometime during Q2 this year.
Although DDR4 DRAM is not expected to be in anyone’s computer system until the beginning of 2012, Samsung is already done developing it. The new DDR4 modules will not only be faster than their DDR3 predecessor, but they are going to run using less power as well.
In order to accomplish the lower power consumption of the modules, Samsung is using the 30nm-class process technology.
Intel used the first workday of 2011 to announce a fresh lineup of Core processors. The second generation of i3, i5 and i7 chips uses the Sandy Bridge architecture and so far includes no less than 29 CPUs.
All the new Intel processors are based on 32nm manufacturing process and boast improved performance plus better power efficiency. And it’s not just the reduced-size instructions that lead to it – according to Intel it’s also due to the L3 cache, which is now shared between all cores. Read more »
The web-based VoIP client in Gmail was launched several months ago with free calls to the US and Canada until the end of 2010. Well, it’s either the Christmas mood or something else, I don’t know, but Google decided to extend those free calls through the whole 2011.
AMD is launching a few slightly upgraded CPUs. The first is a new six-core AMD Phenom II X6 1100T, which is clocked 100MHz higher than its predecessor. And from the Island of Misfit Toys come the new X3 and X2 Athlons, which are getting a similar speed bump – and in the spirit of holiday gift-giving, the new X3 is priced the same as the older, slower X3…
Today Hitachi announced its Dekstar 7K3000 hard drive – the world’s first to offer 3TB storage and 7200 RPM speed. The 3.5” drive also supports 6Gb/s SATA interface and packs a whopping 64MB cache.
These specs should give it an edge over the other available 3TB internal drive – the Western Digital 3TB Caviar Green, which only runs at 5400 RPM. Read more »
NVidia is launching its latest DirectX11 graphic monster – the GeForce GTX 580. It packs 512 CUDA cores, 1.5GB GDDR5 memory and is up to 35% better performer than its predecessor, the GTX 480.
