Google released a standalone Slides application for Apple iOS devices. The app joined its already available Docs and Sheets relatives in the App Store.

In a somewhat unexpected revelation from digital analytics leader comScore, two out of every three US smartphone users don’t download any new apps for their smartphones.
The study, which examines US smartphone trends, shows that under 35% of smartphone users install at least one app per month, and of those less than 11% install more than 3 apps per month. Read more »
The popular password manager LastPass now boasts an updated app for Android, getting it one step closer to be as standalone as its PC counterpart.
One of the major new features is the ability to share credentials between LastPass accounts. It is done in a secure fashion and makes it easy to share passwords with family members and friends. Read more »

The Samsung Galaxy Alpha comes in two versions – one with Samsung’s brand new Exynos 5430 Octa chipset and one with the more common Snapdragon 801 chipset. Both have small 1,860mAh batteries. Small relative to the phone’s size, of course, 4.7″ phones typically have 2,000+ mAh batteries. The Galaxy Alpha is pretty slender though, just 6.7mm, which eats into the available volume for the battery.

Intel and Unity Technologies announced strategic collaboration to extend Andorid support for the chipmaker’s devices. Unity will add Android support for Intel’s current and future x86 chips, including the Core and Atom families.
The graphic development platform creator will add Intel product enhancements to its Unit 4 and Unity 5 product families. Read more »

Facebook carved out the chat functionality from its main app and transferred it exclusively to its Messenger app. Messenger is getting pummeled with 1-star reviews but that hasn’t stopped it from growing and it is now on over 500 million Android devices.
