Google Now update brings widget, two new cards

Google Now is pretty handy, but you need to check either the notification area or the app itself to see the cards. Not very good for at-a-glance info, is it? This is why the fourth update of Now brings the handy service in widget form.

WhatsApp Messenger update brings Holo UI to the Android app

Popular instant messaging client WhatsApp has gone through a major UI redesign on Android. While the former version was nothing more than just a slight revision of the iOS app, the latest update takes advantage of the new Holo UI guidelines for Android.

Right off the bat you’ll be able to see that the menu bar on top is now flat and in line with the new UI guidelines. Drop into a conversation and you will find new flat message bubbles and a redesigned text input field. Read more »

Samsung adds new shade to its Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE, now available in Garnet Red

Samsung has announced a new color variant for its Galaxy Note 10.1 LTE tablet. The latest Garnet Red version of the tablet will be available in South Korean, just in the time for the Valentine’s Day.

Android 4.2.2 update brings notification toggles, new sounds

Google started rolling out the Android 4.2.2 update for some of the Nexus devices a couple of days ago. Although there was no official list of improvements released for the new version, we are now seeing reports from people who managed to get the update on their device.

Android Police has made a short list of new changes that were made in this version of Jelly Bean. The major one seems to be the ability to use the notification screen shortcuts as actual toggles, something that was not possible before (it would take you to the particular option in the Settings app). SwiftKey Flow Beta updated with bug fixes and stability improvements

SwiftKey, one of the popular keyboard alternatives for Android has updated the beta version of its next major release. The update promises to resolve the force close issues along with numerous other bugs.

The update also brings the new look installer to match SwiftKey Flow colors and the Turkish layout is now added to the app. The beta version now offers improved handling of text selection in Chrome and the Samsung mail client. Read more »

HTC has been releasing teaser clips on its official website for some time now that show bits and pieces of the upcoming HTC One, also known as the HTC M7.

Sony Xperia Z LTE version’s system dump surfaces, ringtones and wallpapers extracted

Sony Xperia Z’s system dumps were inevitable to appear once the smartphone went on sale, but it actually surfaced ahead of the wide availability of the handset. A system image of the LTE version of the Xperia Z, has been made available for download courtesy of hush66 from XDA developers.

According to the author the image is from the C6603 version of the smartphone, running on Android 4.1.2 and having a build number 10.1.A.1.350. Read more »

The word was delivered by Nick Earl – Electronic Arts’ senior vice president for mobile and social game development.
