Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 photos leak ahead of the official announcement

The Galaxy Note 8.0 slate was already confirmed by JK Shin – the head of Samsung Mobile Communications. The official announcement is expected to happen at MWC 2013 next month in Barcelona.

We already know the specs of the device – it will be powered by the same quad-core platforms as the Note 10.1, but will come with an 8.0″ display of 1280 x 800 pixel resolution. Now we also got to see the first real world images of the tablet. Read more »

Speaktoit Assistant, or just Assistant, is one of the most popular virtual personal assistants for Android out there and today it has received a major update full of cool new features.

The app’s briefing mode can now not only read the latest news to you, but also tell you which of your Facebook friends have a birthday today. You can also assign your friends different nicknames, so you are not tied up on always saying their full names when you need to contact them. Hyundai T7 Android tablet packs Galaxy S III chipset, 7″ WXGA IPS screen for $166

Sub-$200 tablets usually cut too many corners to deserve to be recommended over a Nexus 7, but the Hyundai T7 might break the mold. It’s a 7” tablet that uses Samsung’s Exynos 4412 chipset, the same one found in the Galaxy S III.

For $166 the T7 offers a 7” 1280 x 800 IPS LCD screen (another nice surprise, as cheap tablets usually go for WSVGA screens) and is actually better than the Nexus 7 in several areas. Read more »

Sony Xperia Tablet Z international launch seems inevitable after the tablet gets priced in Finland

Sony recently unveiled its Xperia Tablet Z in Japan, but the slate might be making its way out of the Land of the rising sun quite quickly. The Xperia Tablet Z, which is the thinnest and lightest 10.1″ Android tablet in the market, has been listed by the popular Finnish retailer Verkkokauppa, hinting that the international launch is not too far away.

Sony’s personal content station to be launched on April 30 in Japan

Sony announces 10-inch Xperia Tablet Z for the Japanese market

Sony has announced a brand new Android-based tablet in Japan, called the Xperia Tablet Z. This new tablet is 6.9mm thick and weighs 495g, which makes it the thinnest and lightest 10-inch Android tablet on the market and even thinner than smaller tablets such as the iPad mini.

On the front the Tablet Z has a 10.1-inch, 1920 x 1200 resolution ‘Reality Display’ powered by Mobile Bravia Engine 2. The design language of the tablet is similar to the recent Sony Xperia handsets, such as the Xperia Z. Also, just like the Xperia Z, the Xperia Tablet Z happens to be dust and water resistant. Opera demonstrates upcoming ‘Ice’ browser for tablets

Opera is currently working on a brand new version of a mobile browser designed specifically for tablets. Currently known only as ‘Ice’, this new browser uses a gesture-based interface quite common on apps these days and is the first Opera browser to use the WebKit engine.

As you can see in the video below, ‘Ice’ allows you to save web pages on the homescreen for quick access. It then loads these sites as you’d load a native app. The fact that it uses the WebKit engine means that it works quite well with Google’s services, such as Google Maps. Read more »
