‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ for iOS and Android game review

Another superhero movie, another superhero movie tie-in game. We see these kind of games pop up quite frequently and rarely do they ever do justice to the movie, let alone to gaming. But people keep making them because, well, who doesn’t like money?

The previous The Amazing Spider-Man game for mobile was mediocre at best (to be honest, the movie wasn’t significantly better). This year, we have a sequel for the movie that promises to be bigger and better than the last one and like clockwork, there is a game that goes along with it. LG G2 KitKat benchmarks

After the LG G2 received its KitKat update we decided to see what’s what and check out if the phone’s performance has seen drastic changes compared to its Jelly Bean state. We re-tested the battery performance and now it’s time to put the chipset through its paces.

The battery performance showed a leap from a 62 hour endurance rating to an 81 hour one, which was mainly due to a much-improved stand by time. As for the benchmarks, well, there’s a different story here. Note that KitKat brings faster multitasking because of optimized memory usage, which should aid in better benchmarking scores. WhatsApp for Android update adds new group mute settings

WhatsApp has released an update for Android (v2.11.230) that brings with it the highly requested group muting settings.

Anyone who has used WhatsApp groups would know how annoying some of them can get over time and there was no way to permanently mute them. The latest update, however, adds some new options that lets you mute a group beyond one week, all the way up to a century. Read more »

LG G2 KitKat battery test

After being conceived by LG last year, the G2 launched with Android Jelly Bean under its belt, which was the latest at the time.

Now that some time has passed and all the tests have been done the G2 has had the pleasure of receiving the latest Android on the block – KitKat – and among other optimizations we expected LG to have tweaked and improved the battery performance. Read more »

Motorola XT912A hits GFXBench with Snapdragon 800

An unannounced Motorola smartphone with the model name XT912A has been put through the popular graphics benchmark GFXBench. Doing so revealed that it’s shaping up to be a Moto X successor as it packs a Snapdragon 800 chipset and 2GB of RAM.

Additionally, the Motorola XT912A features a 5.2″ display of full HD resolution, making up for a pixel density of 424 ppi. Read more »

Android passes iOS in ad traffic, still behind in ad revenue

The latest data from Opera’s Mediaworks ad tracking platform shows that Android has for the first time surpassed iOS in number of mobile ad impressions.

Apple’s iPhones and iPads still generate more ad revenue, however, receiving 52% of ad revenue, despite accounting for just 38.2% of all impressions. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series will be available in the US from May 1

Samsung officially unveiled its new thinner and lighter Galaxy Tab 4 series earlier this month. The lineup consists of three devices – Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 and now the company has confirmed that they all will be available in the US on May 1, with the pre-orders starting tomorrow.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 series will be up for grabs in black or white versions. The slates will be available for purchase from quite a few major retailers across the United States – the pre-orders are accepted at Samsung’s online store, Amazon, Best Buy, Fry’s, Office Depot, OfficeMax, PC Richard and Son, Sears and Tiger Direct. Lytro unveils second generation Illum light field camera

Lytro unveiled its proprietary self-titled camera – the first of its kind – back in 2011, and now its decided to follow it up with a new light field camera called Illum.

Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 for AT&T gets FCC approval

The AT&T version of the Galaxy NotePRO 12.2 has payed a visit to the FCC, carrying the model number SM-P907A.

The tablet packs 4G LTE connectivity and will operate on the LTE bands 4 and 17. There’s every indication that outside of this, the NotePRO 12.2 for AT&amp:T will feature the same specs as its international sibling. Read more »
