Xiaomi laptop leaked in pictures, specs revealed

Xiaomi has definitely been on the rise in 2014. The Chinese company is firmly grounding its reputation as a trusted manufacturer of quality devices with a very good value to price tag ratio. But besides recent bestsellers in the smartphone market, like the Redmi 1S and the Xiaomi Mi3, the tech giant also offers a wide range of other consumer devices, like TVs, Media players and headphones and is constantly branching into new markets with offers like the Mi Air Purifier.

New rumors have now surfaced, stating that Xiaomi may be expanding into the PC market with its first ever laptop. Speculations about such a move have been circulating for the past few months but it is only now that we are seeing some more-convincing evidence in the form of photos and possible specs. George Lucas’ timeless classic needs no introduction, nor any more praise it has proven itself time and time again ass one of the most influential and significant cultural phenomenon in existence. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic is one of the absolute must-play titles for any true Star Wars fan. Since its initial release back in 2003 it has won the hearts of countless gamers and is perhaps the most critically acclaimed game in LucasArts’ sizable portfolio.

Today the title is still captivating younger generations of gamers thanks to skillfully executed mobile ports of the RPG. iOS users have had the pleasure of enjoying the space classic for over an year now and now Android devices can also partake in the fun. WhatsApp soon to offer voice calls

The possibility of VoIP functionality in WhatsApp has been floating around in the rumor mill for quite some time now. While it has never been officially confirmed, little bits and pieces have been popping out here and there.

Recently a few interesting screenshots have surfaced, showcasing the popular chat application adorned with shiny new voice features.

While the functionality is still not available and probably not even fully complete, Android enthusiasts have managed to dig up a glimpse of what it may look like.

As it turns out, the Android version of WhatsApp exists in two main build branches, One stable branch, which can be found on the Play Store and which almost everybody has on their devices and another one, distributed directly off of the company’s website. Read more »

LTE LG G Pad 8.0 now available in South Korea

The mid-range tablet offering by tech giant LG was released to select markets a few months ago. But it seems that it is only now reaching the local market. The G Pad 8.0 is now available in South Korea with a price tag of KRW 330,000 or about $300.

Sony releases cryptic CES 2015 teaser video

With CES 2015 only a few days away the hype is on and companies are already gearing up for the marketing avalanche to come. Teasers and early announcement are starting to surface with everybody working hard to outshine competitors in the battle for consumer attention.

Keeping true to this tradition Sony created a really artsy teaser in the wake of this year’s tech show. This clip is only 43 seconds long and pretty vague in its message. LG announces new quantum dot TV well before CES 2015

Quantum dot technology has been in the works for quite some time now and at his point it is definitely not a new concept. However it is yet to find a place on the mass market. This was set to change once two of the biggest rival tech giants – Samsung and LG, announced that they will be starting mass production of quantum dot displays, back in June. The hype around the technology is gathering momentum as CES 2015 draws near and we are sure to hear a lot of praise and awe-inspiring talks during the annual show. In light of all this LG has decided to get a head start and jumped the gun today with the official announcement of its first QD 4K TV.

The statement disclosed little other information concerning the new TV. No specifics are yet available regarding model number, price, expected shipping date or even screen size. All we know for sure is that the display will, unsurprisingly be capable of handling 4K resolution and that the new technology contains no cadmium and is not toxic in any way, which the Korean giant, somewhat oddly specifically stressed upon. Savelli Ruby Limited Edition is a luxury $57,500 Android smartphone for women

After showcasing an exquisite Apple device yesterday it is only natural to give high-rolling Android fans a fair portion of attention. Geneva-based jeweler Savelli has apparently rolled out its second line of luxury smartphones, after entering the market last year with its $244,000 Emerald Night handset.

For this year’s offering the company has teamed up with colored gemstone miner Gemfields to bring users a new collection, named Savelli Ruby Limited Edition. Wearable tech appears to be here to stay and the Apple Watch is the long anticipated future entrant to the fast-growing niche. It is set to arrive sometime early next year, but it appears that the smartwatch has already captivated the attention of the of the luxury world and in particular the American diamond importer Mervis.

It appears that it is never too early to reimagine a fashion accessory, as the prestigious company recently published a diamond-covered version of the Apple wearable on their Facebook page. The exquisite device is up for preorder with delivery dates set for the middle of 2015. Skype offers India users free mobile and landline calls to US and Canada

Skype announced a new promotion today for its users in India. For a limited time up until March 1, 2015 (00:01 IST) all new and current Skype users in the fast-growing India market will be able to benefit from the offer. Interestingly enough calls can be both personal and business, but certain limitations do apply to prevent abuse of the service.

Windows Phone apps show up in Windows 10 store

The recent leak of a Windows 10 consumer build (9901) has provided tech-enthusiast and Windows fans alike with information on a lot of previously unannounced features of the upcoming OS release. And while Xbox and Cortana integration are obviously on their way we are yet to see one of the exciting features boasted by Microsoft – ability to run Windows Phone applications on a desktop Windows distribution.

The leaked Windows 10 build in question has given us a possible glimpse of precisely this feature. An interesting picture popped up on twitter, showing HTC’s “Make More Space” app listed in the Windows 10 Store. The application is clearly intended for Windows phone, as evident from its listing. Yatse – the XBMC/Kodi Android remote app gets material treatment in its latest update

Yatse is one of those awesome apps that you might not even know exists, and yet can’t live without once discovered. The app is a powerhouse and all-in-one tool that can satisfy the needs of even the pickiest XBMC user.

Yesterday, it was finally ushered into the new material trend and how has a fresh new look and is as stylish as ever. It is exciting to see that the app is getting the attention it deserves and is still in active development, which reassured fans it is here to stay and will keep up with the rapid XBMS development of late.

For those unfamiliar with XBMC, recently renamed to Kodi for legal reasons, it is one of the most popular open-source media player software suits. But that description definitely does not do it justice. It actually represent a monumental amount of effort from a multitude of people who have managed to create one of the best, if not the best and most complete multimedia management platforms in existence to date.

Amazon Android app disappeared from Google Play store

Amazon’s primary Android app is rather mysteriously missing from the Google Play store. The application is not completely gone of course, but has been pulled from the official store and no longer pops-up in searches, although it is accessible through a direct store link.

This comes as a direct consequence of Amazon’s fairly recent addition of an “Apps and Games” section into its main application. The functionality was mostly their own app store baked right into the primary shopping software. This was a huge leap forward for the Seattle-based online giant as it allowed for applications to be delivered seamlessly to devices, instead of having to be download from the website and side-loaded like before.
