It’s always about speed with browsers – company undertook a huge testing effort to answer the question “Which is faster – the Android Browser or the iPhone’s Safari for iOS?” Well, after 45,000 page loads the answer was clear, Android wins by a huge margin.
The test also offers other curious results. The oft touted speed it turns out doesn’t affect page load times as dramatically as browser makers would have you believe… Read more »
HTC’s first tablet, the HTC Flyer, is preparing to land in the UK. The Brits at Clove were very happy to announce the start of the Flyer pre-order and they even have a quick pros and cons for the device.
They’ll be posting one-to-one comparisons with other tablets over the next few weeks, biding their time until the HTC Flyer stock arrives… Read more »
In a stance against phones “more” Yves Behar designed a phone for Danish manufacturer Aesir, which focuses on craftsmanship and audio experience. The result is pretty attractive (unlike some eyesores of the luxury phone world) but its price will still make you frown.
Functionality-wise it’s nothing impressive but the edge-to-edge keypad does look interesting and there are custom ringtones and icons designed just for the phone… Read more »
The secret art of URL guessing – sometimes it pays off. Someone decided to add /apps after amazon.com and the upcoming Android app store was revealed. It was stocked with about 50 apps, some exclusive and some cheaper than in Google’s Market.
AndroidNews.de discovered the URL, took screenshots of the Amazon App Store and made a price comparison table between it and the Android Market… Read more »
Adobe has reported on a critical vulnerability in Flash Player, Reader and Acrobat applications. It’s interesting since it affects the desktop Flash Player along with the Android one and even the one embedded in Chrome.

Internet Explorer 9 is all done and baked and ready for download. Maybe you’ve played with the beta but I hadn’t so I took it for a quick spin – a few benchmarks and a few clicks on the more interesting-looking buttons.
First off, here are a few screenshots for those of you who haven’t seen Internet Explorer 9 before… Read more »
Someone over at the AndroidHD blog must be seriously in love with their Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. So much so that they spend a whole day playing with the new droid tablet and edited the whole thing into a 12 minute long ad (an unofficial one, that is).
The video takes the Tab 10.1 everywhere – from home, on the train, in the car, on a boat, or to see the Eiffel Tower back home… Read more »
I’ve been waiting for this feature for quite a while – Google will allow you to bock whole sites from its search results, starting today. There are browser plug-ins to do that, but now the Big G is building it right into their search pages.
Google is pretty good at finding what I need, but when researching a more obscure topic, most of the results point to the same nasty link spam site that not just gets in the way, but is terribly annoying too… Read more »
When Nokia and Microsoft announced their partnership it surprised many, but some insiders have info that sheds more light on the reasons behind the move. It’s not just Stephen Elop’s Microsoft past, apparently there’s also a billion dollar changing hands (going from Microsoft to Nokia).
It’s more complicated than just the money though – there’s fees, patent portfolios, mapping services and other considerations… Read more »
HTC have enlisted the help of Girls Aloud member Sarah Harding to promote the HTC Incredible S in the UK. They set up a photo shoot and here’s the result (two more photos after the jump).
The Carphone Warehouse and Best Buy are now offering the handset and they claim exclusivity… Read more »
We occasionally cover concepts for mobile phones – they may never leave the drawing board, but their designers often dream up of interesting new features that might one day make it to actual devices.
This design is by Baek Kil Hyun (a student at the Samsung Art & Design Institute) and it’s called 360 Compact Mobile Phone (hey, the guy’s a designer, not a copywriter). His imaginary product implements two flips that are also displays and do what the iPad 2’s Smart covers do, except… they are better. Read more »
The official iPad 2 announcement is drawing close (6PM London time) but that’s not stopping last-minute leaks. We already eyed up the supposed leaked photos of the second-generation iPad and now apparently Amazon Germany jumped the gun and (accidentally!) put their iPad 2 listing out in the open.
Apple iPad 2 specs on Amazon Germany (click for full size)
That simple slip up gives up a lot of details on the upcoming Apple tablet – same screen size, but faster CPU and a Thunderbolt port for example… Read more »
Nokia has been mentioning their Ovi Browser more often than not – and they’ve released a new beta version to try out. It has received some polish since we saw it last year.
Sounds good, but is it good enough to beat the current king of feature phone browsing, Opera Mini?… Read more »
Well, I don’t know how much truth there is in advertising but I’m willing to bet such encounters like the one shown in this ad are purely fictional. Either that or I should have become a taxi driver.
Anyway, if a pretty girl does walk into your taxi then you’d better have a Nokia C7 at the ready as this ad shows… Read more »
MobileMe is dead, long live MobileMe? Apple has put their online service on the End of Life list, discontinuing both online and in-store purchases. And of course, rumors about the MobileMe service going free started churning in the Internet rumor mill.
Perhaps Apple’s new data center might have something to do with all this… Read more »
