Google has announced yet another expansion of its Play services – Play Movies comes to 21 new countries, while Play Books adds 11 new ones. This brings the total for Movies to 90 countries and for Books to 57.

Sony’s flagships are getting a new exclusive feature – Live on YouTube app. It lets them live stream video on YouTube. So far Sony’s flagships had the unique Social Live feature, which let them livestream video to their Facebook walls, but this time it’s YouTube we are talking about.

The exclusive app should be available for the Sony Xperia Z2, Xperia Z1 and Z1 Compact, though note that it’s not available in Germany and in countries where YouTube isn’t available. Read more »

Back in 2009 Intel agreed to pay AMD $1.25 billion in an antitrust settlement, but the battle wasn’t over – the European commission had a separate case against the leading chip maker. Intel was appealing that decision but five years later the commission has passed its final verdict.

DxOMark has finished the long process of evaluating the Samsung Galaxy S5 camera and has given it the highest score of any smartphone to date, 79/100, though it has to share this spot with the Sony Xperia Z2. That said, the Galaxy S5 records the best video yet beating the Xperia by a comfortable margin.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 got an 80/100 score for still photography. It was commended for very good Exposure, White balance and Color rendering in good light. Read more »

Amazon just given you another reason to become a Prime member – a streaming music service with no ads that works offline too. The new Amazon Prime Music goes after Apple’s music streaming ambitions with Beats, Nokia’s MixRadio and independent services like Pandora and Spotify.

Prime Music works on anything from phones to desktops and doesn’t require an Internet connection – as long as you cache the songs before going offline you can listen to them all you want. Read more »

The PlayStation Vita TV has been on sale in Japan and Asia since last year but Sony will be bringing it to North America and Europe under the name PlayStation TV. The gadget has the PS Vita hardware inside and can play Vita, PlayStation Portable and PS One games using the bundled DualShock 3 controller.

It can also stream a game running on a PlayStation 4 in a different room thanks to its Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity. Read more »

The Nintendo Wii proved a resounding success, so much so that Sony hadn’t outsold Nintendo in the console market since 2005. Japanese news outlet Nikkei reports that this changed in 2013 as the PlayStation 4 got off to a stronger start than its predecessor, while the Wii’s successor proved massively disappointing.

Sony moved 4.2 million PlayStation 4s by the end of the year (the console only went on sale in November), that number grew to 7 million by March. Read more »

Windows tablets are aggressively coming down in price, having reached the $100 / €100 mark. The Emdoor EM-i8080 packs surprisingly good specs for one Ben Franklin, but also some disappointing compromises.

The trickle of information about the LG G Watch continues and not always from official sources – despite having scheduled the smartwatch for a launch next month there are still large parts of its spec sheet that are unclear, including the chipset.

Google is great at tech and software, but for the design the company is bringing in outside help. First, Ivy Ross who was head designer for Mattel, Disney, Calvin Klein and others. Asus unveiled two new Transformer Pads, Android 4.4 powered tablets with keyboard docks. Those shouldn’t be confused with the three other Transformers unveiled today as they are mostly Windows devices.
