Google Now hits AOSP ICS devices, voice commands not supported just yet

Google Now, Google’s new voice search feature for Jelly Bean introduced during Google I/O last week, is now available for download on all AOSP ICS devices as well.

As is usually the case with exclusive apps and features introduced in a new Android build, the folks over at xda-developers forums were able to get their hands on the apk, and successfully port it over to Android 4.0. Read more »

Final Fantasy III comes to Android, costs an arm and a leg

One of the most prominent members of the Final Fantasy legacy, Final Fantasy III, just made its way to Android with improved visuals.

After more than a year of being available on iOS, the FF III port is of the updated 2006 version which features full 3D graphics. The title is already available at the Google Play store for the rather steep price of $15.99. Read more »

Samsung launches S Health wellness app for Galaxy S III

Samsung has launched an app which allows Galaxy S III owners to sync their smartphones with certain medical equipment to effectively measure and monitor vital health statistics.

S Health can connect to various weight, blood pressure or glucose monitors to present a health profile over a period of time that can be viewed or shared via SNS services. Read more »

OneCloud from Box now available on Android

Box.com’s recently released OneCloud platform, aimed at providing enterprise level cloud storage solutions, is now available to Android users.

OneCloud is designed to allow third-party app developers the ability to sync to a Box account from within their app, which eliminates the problems when trying to view files edited via a mobile platform in a desktop environment. Read more »

Flipboard receives Google+ integration

Flipboard, the social and news aggregation app, is set to receive Google+ integration as Google announced a new partnership with its developer. The deal includes the launch of a new API specially formulated to write content for Flipboard.

ASUS rep confirms upcoming Nexus 7 tablet by end of June

An ASUS representative at the Computex trade show in Taipei has confirmed that the first Nexus tablet from Google will be produced by ASUS, and will be unveiled before the end of June.

Coincidentally, Google’s popular I/O conference is set for June 27th and 28th, so things are ripe for a tablet-related announcement by the tech giant. Read more »

Apple gets fined $2.35 million for false 4G advertising in Australia

Australia’s Consumer and Competition Commission has fined Apple $2.25 million AUD, plus legal fees, for advertising misleading 4G capabilities on the new iPad.

The device is rated to work only on the 700Mhz and 2100Mhz 4G bands, which are currently not supported in Australia. Read more »

Samsung Galaxy Pocket battery life fully tested, results are inside

The Samsung Galaxy Pocket is a budget offering from Samsung, which aims to scrape the bottom of the Android barrel by luring users into the smartphone game for cheap.

It packs a meager 2.8 inch screen of QVGA resolution, a QVGA camera, and no real power-hogging connectivity features to speak of, so the 1200 mAh battery, despite being on the rather small side, should be good enough to provide ample power.
