Auto upload Google Photos using Desktop Uploader app for Mac or Windows

Google recently announced the new Photos service with unlimited storage for smartly organizing and arranging the photo collections. In addition to making it a standalone Android app, Google has now also released a Desktop Uploader app to help you add the photos on your computer to the Photos storage.

The Desktop Uploader app is available for the Windows and Mac platform for automatically uploading the images once set up. Google Photos does upload all your images but do note that it uses a compression method to accommodate all those images. Read more »

Xiaomi Mi Power bank 16,000 mAh to sell for $22 in India from June 9

Xiaomi has announced it sell a new Mi Power bank with 16,000 mah capacity to replace the existing 10,000 mAh one in India. The new external charger 16,000 mAh will go on sale for INR 1,399 ($22) on June 9 on the from Mi.com website.

Slowly, Xiaomi is moving the sale of its accessories to the official Mi website in India. The company also confirmed that the 5,000 mAh capacity power bank will be sold the week following that. Read more »

Nintendo NX game console will not run Android after all

Yesterday, we reported about a possibility that Nintendo will adopt Google’s Android platform for its upcoming game console codenamed NX.

However, today a company spokesperson refuted the claims and stated that there is no truth to the report. No reasons were cited for not using Android for NX game console. There goes a possibility of having yet another Android game console down the drain. Read more »

Update brings Material Design to BBM for Android

BlackBerry has decided to spruce up its BBM app for Android. A brand new Beta version of the app will bring Material Design language to the messaging platform.

Microsoft to acquire the 6Wunderkinder’s To-Do List app: Wunderlist

Microsoft acquired 6Wunderkinder, the startup behind the to-do app – Wunderlist. The Redmond giant’s shopping spree is a bid to bolster its mobile platform with popular applications.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Microsoft is ready to pay between $100 to $200 million for the German startup. Wunderlist is an app that allows users to make daily schedules and sync tasks between several devices. Read more »

Nintendo NX game console to run Android-based OS

Nintendo is working on its next generation game console dubbed NX but will remain mum on any details until we are closer to its launch in 2016. And while the hardware details are unknown, new reports claim that the NX gaming console will run an Android-based operating system.

So far, Nintendo has only hinted that the NX will be supplemental to the existing Wii U and the 3DS game consoles. That doesn’t mean that Nintendo has given up racing against the existing PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Read more »

Google ATAP’s Project Soli to bring interactive gesture control

At Google I/O 2015, the software giant introduced its Advanced Technology and Projects team working on a handful of next generation technologies. Google has just released a video explaining one of them – Project Soli.

Google’s ATAP team is experimenting with an interaction sensor for tracking gestures using the radar technology. With a tiny sensor incorporated in any gadget or wearable, you get to interact with the controls using different hand gestures. Those gestures are basically recorded by the new interaction sensor by estimating the speed of movement, direction, or range. Read more »

Microsoft Windows 10 to release on August 31

Two days ago, we reported that the Microsoft’s Windows 10 RTM build is set to arrive in July 2015. While many thought that was way too optimistic, Microsoft is hell bent to prove otherwise.

Microsoft is prepping to release the Windows 10 for public as well as for its partners on August 31 as per the listing spotted at NewEgg website. To be noted that the listing is for the OEM versions of the Windows 10 Home for $110 and Windows 10 Professional for $150. Read more »

Telltale’s Game of Thrones Episode 4 ‘Sons of Winter’ is now available

Telltale Games has been working on the games based on the Game of Thrones series and has been releasing the same in instalments. The new Episode 4 ‘Sons of Winter’ is now available as an in-app purchase for $5 to play it on PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, iOS and Android platforms.

The second half of the Telltale’s first Game of Thrones season starts with this new Episode 4 and soon the first season will be over in couple of months. When compared to the TV Show, new Episode 4 starts with the situation showing the third season. Read more »

Google ATAP’s Project Jacquard to help produce interactive clothes

Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) team is working on a special weaving technology with textile makers to weave touch and gesture sensitive materials along with regular ones to make special yarns. These yarns are woven into fabrics that can be used for making products ranging from a shirt to a car’s upholstery. Furthermore, small circuits to work closely with that material are to be smartly crafted inside such final product. Connected fabrics is the objective of ATAP’s Project Jacquard.

The regular cotton, silk, polyester or any other material will get woven with equally thin conductive metallic alloys for making a strong yarn meant to be used in an industrial loom settings. But the cloth is only one part of the connected clothing. Read more »

WhatsApp Calling for Windows Phone devices expected to roll out soon

Popular instant messaging service WhatsApp is quietly testing the WhatsApp Calling feature for the Microsoft Windows Phone platform. Android and iOS users have been using this feature for a couple of months now.

Windows Phone owners should look out for the WhatsApp Calling enabled through the WhatsApp version 2.12.238 beta build. There is no word on when the feature will be rolled out to all Windows Phone users. Read more »

Microsoft Windows 10 RTM build coming in July

The much awaited Windows 10 operating system is expected to release publicly a couple of months from now. Back in April, AMD president and CEO Lisa Su spilled beans about Windows 10’s arrival in July.

Now the Russian Windows OS builds leaker WZor noted that the timeframe is actually about the Windows 10 RTM (Release to Manufacture) build The RTM build is sent to manufacturers so they can upload it to their PCs and is the last to come before the final public version. Read more »

Lenovo Cast is a $49 Google Chromecast competitor

The Chinese tech giant Lenovo announced its first media casting device. Dubbed Lenovo Cast, the gadget is a rival to the popular Chromecast by Google.

Lenovo Cast is a round device shaped like an ice hockey puck, which can be plugged to a TV or monitor via HDMI. With support for streaming 1080p video, the Cast can easily stream content from a mobile device to a large screen. Read more »

Microsoft releases Office Lens app for Android

Back in April, Microsoft introduced the Office Lens app for iOS. It lets you capture anything using a smartphone’s camera and get it automatically tweaked to be saved in OneNote or OneDrive storage.

After beta testing it for several weeks, the Office Lens for Android devices is finally live in the Google Play Store. The phones running Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and higher will be able to get the app. Read more »

Microsoft to release Cortana for iOS and Android

Microsoft has rolled its sleeves and branching out its apps as well as other services to rival platforms. Today, the company officially announced it will release its Cortana companion app for the iOS and Android platforms.

Cortana will not be a full-blown native app that it is on the Windows platform but Microsoft promises to work actively to include at least the notifications support. Read more »
