Today Google has started rolling out the latest update for its Calendar app for Android. Google Calendar 5.1 brings with it a 7-day view for phones. Additionally, you can now add Google Drive files to events, and Drive will even check if everyone who’s participating in an event can open them.

These are the main new features, but there’s more stuff in this update. For example, you can now control whether birthdays from your Google+ contacts are shown on your calendar. This setting will arrive on the Web version of Google Calendar too, but next week. Read more »

Since its launch, Google Play Music has allowed you to upload and store up to 20,000 songs in the cloud. This has been a key differentiator for Google’s service, since you don’t have to rely solely on its collection – if you’ve got some tracks that it doesn’t, just upload them and then you can stream them to any device.

This limit has now effectively been raised to 50,000 – that’s how many of your own songs you can store in Google’s cloud from today. So we assume very few people will not be able to upload their entire music collections to Google Play following this move. Read more »

It was a repeated theme in Galaxy S6 rumors that the upcoming high-end smartphone will be equipped with wireless charging capability, and Samsung all but confirmed it. Now we may have stumbled on another tangible proof of that feature. American regulating authority FCC has certified a Samsung wireless charger and all clues point to a unit, that will accompany the hotly-anticipated flagship.

With MWC right around the corner the One (M9) is definitely on everybody’s minds, but this definitely does not mean that HTC doesn’t have other agenda to attend to. You might remember that last September the company put out a limited edition version of its flagship device to honor the Champions League.

Apparently the experiment was fruitful as today another UEFA commemorative version of the same handset saw the light of day. The phone in question is, of course, the HTC One (M8), but this time around it is not getting a render of the tournament’s and cup. The MediaTek MT6795 chipset has been in the works for quite a while now, but early benchmarks show it will have Samsung’s Exynos 7420 to compete with, while Snapdragon 810 lags behind. All three of these chipsets have the same basic CPU setup – a big.LITTLE combo with four Cortex-A57 and four Cortex-A53.

The leaked result comes from Geekbench 3.0, a developer board by the looks of it. This is a CPU benchmark so we can’t compare GPUs – the PowerVR G6200 in the MediaTek, the Mali-T760 in the Exynos and the Adreno 430 in the Snapdragon. Read more »

Samsung has definitely been on a streak lately. And this does not refer only to the ever-growing mobile market or the TV segment with the new UHD niche. The Korean tech giant is hitting big in terms of technology innovations. Recent developments in 14nm production methods as well as improving market positions and stable supply contracts have turned the Koreans in a key industry manufacturer.

Amidst all of this success Samsung Electronics president Kinam Kim sounded naturally excited about the company’s future at the International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC). In his speech he went into detail about the relatively new concept of Internet of Things (IoT). According to Cisco Systems estimates there are currently about 14.4 billion devices connected to the internet, which is quite a lot considering that there are half as much people worldwide. Kyocera has announced to show a working prototype smartphone with solar charging capability at the Mobile World Congress 2015 next week. This prototype is basically last year’s TORQUE smartphone.

The TORQUE KC-701 smartphone prototype is rugged and design reflects the original TORQUE SKT01 model. Kyocera has used a French company SunPartner Technologies’ Wysips Crystal panel to enable solar charging on the phone. Read more »

Leica has collaborated with Lenny Kravitz to introduce a special limited edition luxury professional camera kit – M-P ‘Correspondent’ camera. Packing two Leica lenses, Leica and Kravitz Design will sell only 125 special edition kits at $24,500 each.

Google may be aggressively following the annual update cycle of Android platform but same isn’t the case with its ambitious Chromebook Pixel project. Renee Niemi, Director of Android & Chrome for Work and Education at Google, inadvertently confirmed that a new Chromebook Pixel laptop is expected to release soon.

And just like that the Pebble Time smart watch has reached over 38 thousand backers and a whopping $8 million pledged. Granted Pebble could have gone the traditional route, but it’s one of the legendary Kickstarters and there’s no denying this is great marketing.

Smartwatches are definitely not a novice concept, but it seems that now they are finally starting to pick up. The debate is still on whether the new class of devices is really useful and is meant to serve any actual purpose other than market expansion, but from the looks of things the wrist companions are here to stay.

With all this hype in the tech world Apple is yet to capitalize on the new device niche, but the long-anticipated Apple Watch is inching ever closer to its release date. According a recent statement the Apple Watch should start shipping in April, so the wait is almost over. In the meantime various predictionsare being made about the upcoming device. Micosoft Band. the company’s first proper wearable device, just got a major update. One of the key additions is bike tracking. The device will now be able to track your biking activity, whether it’s outdoors on a proper bike or indoors on a stationary exercise bike. The band adjusts its sensors such as the heart rate monitor to adapt to the different stress levels of biking compared to other activities.

The other major additions is a virtual keyboard. The band now shows a tiny keyboard on its tiny display. It uses the same Word Flow or swipe feature present on Windows Phone 8.1 keyboard. Chinese smartphone manufacturer Huawei has unveiled what it is calling the world’s first LTE-M wearable. Dubbed 4.5G Smartband, the wearable, as the name suggests, will support the company’s 4.5G network, which is said to deliver up to 1Gbps bandwidth and set for a commercial rollout next year.

You would be able to use the wearable to track your fitness levels and heart rate, as well as pair it with other IoT devices, for example, thermostats and energy readers. The device will include an LTE-M chip made by Neul, which Huawei acquired back in September last year. Read more »

Samsung is on top of the food chain when it comes to a lot of tech markets. If there is one thing the Korean giant is extremely good at it has to be display panels. Samsung has built a formidable reputation as a major innovator in this area as well as a top supplier both to third-party manufacturers and consumer markets.

According to DisplaySearch, a leader in global market research, Samsung Electronics has been holding the first place in annual TV sales worldwide for the last 9 years straight. In 2014 the Korean manufacturer accounted for 29.2% of the sales, a huge leap from 11.9% in 2013.
