Japanese operator KDDI wows with its 2010 summer collection of 10 waterproof phones

Summer is just around the corner, the guys over in Japan have already got the party started, thanks to the KDDI operator and its 2010 summer collection of 10 mobile phones. Despite being quite different, they have one thing in common, all 10 of them are waterproof.

Now, I’m not going to dig deep in details but each of those 10 phones deserves its brief moment in the limelight.

Adobe vs. Apple war continues, Android 2.2 thrown in the battle

Adobe and Apple won’t stop at anything to prove each other wrong and now Adobe have found a valuable ally in Google and their Android OS. As we are expecting Google’s announcement of Flash-flaunting Android 2.2 (Froyo) tomorrow, Adobe have already prepared a list of Flash-enabled websites to demonstrate the new Flash prowess Nexus one and Motorola DROID will get as soon as they update to Android 2.2.

Symbian users go through twice more ads than iPhone users, study shows

An interesting study, released by the mobile ad company Smaato reveled that Symbian users click more ads than the users of any other mobile platform. The numbers are based upon 40 mobile ad networks and over 6 billion ad requests served in the Smaato Network of more than 4 000 registered mobile publishers.

The click through rate of the Symbian users is 57% higher than the average, way higher than that of the next best performer (in the eyes of mobile advertisers, at least) – that’s feature phones (34% higher than average). Read more »

Seagate confirms 3TB hard disk drive will be available before the end of the year

There have been rumors about Seagate releasing a 3TB drive this year but it just got officially confirmed. Barbara Craig, senior product manager at the company has gone on record saying that “we are announcing a 3TB drive later this year”.

Swedish retailer puts Project Natal at $200, probably jumped the gun

Earlier this is year, we heard that Project Natal would cost below 80 US dollars – skyrocketing its entertainment-to-price ratio to infinity. The Move controller for the Sony PlayStation, which supposedly has a similar price, but not much more coolness than the Wii controller.

Google is watching you, every email, every web search. And, apparently, it’s also snooping on your Wi-Fi network. As it turns out, Google has been collecting the information sent over many non-password-protected Wi-Fi networks during their Street View tours. And that’s been going on for years!

Up until now I thought of the Street View as of a remarkable idea. Actually, even now, after this disturbing news, I think it’s Google Maps’ greatest feature. But what is that spying obsession?

Office Mobile 2010 gets previewed, the Presentation Companion gets good marks

Windows Mobile 6.5 users got a free upgrade to Office Mobile 2010 just a couple of days ago and the first previews of the software have already hit the Internet. Looking at the screenshots though, it’s hard to tell what they’ve changed – it looks the same…

Ars Technica has put together a quick preview of Office Mobile 2010 and have found that when editing documents, a stylus is still more accurate than a finger. The upgrade brings new versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote and adds the SharePoint Workspace application. Read more »
