Keyboard accessories seem quite popular with tablets – the iPad has one, the Samsung P1000 Galaxy Tab has one too. And if you buy a Galaxy Tab in Spain you can have one too – for free…
The good news first – HTC’s CEO Peter Chou confirmed there will be Sense UI into the company’s upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices, it just won’t be the way we are used to. Here is his full statement:
“I don’t think we would do complete Sense UI on Windows Phone 7. However, I will say that we will innovate differently to improve the experience and to get some HTC unique and differentiated experience on Windows Phone 7 in the future.”
Aldo Liguori from Sony Ericsson UK spoke to BusinessWeek and said that the company has no plans of creating any more Symbian-based devices.
It does not sound conclusive, but it seems Nokia is alone for now. Let’s hope Symbian^3 and its successors will have the power to draw back some of its fans.
Here’s a video that doesn’t need much introduction. It’s impressive as a videographer’s first attempt in DSLR video creation. The characters and the 3D animation are cool, as well. The video was shot mainly with a Canon 550D but they’ve included a Nikon D5000 as a sidekick as well. The second camera was used so that the author can shoot a scene from two angles simultaneously. The whole shooting was done in 2 hours, post took a good month.
Mozilla Seabird is a conceptual phone, unfortunately. After watching its video, you will want a time machine for sure.
Phone advertisements have been quite liberal with the term “4G”. Most of the time they mean fast HSPA or WiMAX, rather than actual 4G connectivity – which in the case of GSM is non other than LTE. But Samsung and US carrier MetroPCS have joined forces to bring true 4G on a mobile handset.

The Nokia 5230 (a.k.a. Nuron in the US) is one of the cheapest ways to get a full-blown SatNav system. It’s got a GPS, free voice-guided navigation with offline maps (that is you don’t need an Internet connection as you go) and you can buy it for about 120 euro (160 USD).
However that 434MHz CPU it’s got under its bonnet, sure takes its time to launch Ovi Maps. But if you overclock it to, say, 800MHz that will make it faster – and someone already made it happen…
Okay, okay, I know this isn’t as good as trying it in person, but, at least for the next few days, that’s all we get. Samsung just published an official demo video, showing their Android-running tablet performance and cool features.
According to Samsung the purpose of the video is to objectively present the key features of the Galaxy Tab so no “graphic effects” (I’m not sure that’s exactly what they meant) have been applied. Anyway this video should give you an excellent idea of what the Galaxy Tab real-life performance will be like.
Today Nokia USA and AT&T announced the North American Calling Innovators Contest with 10 million US dollars prize. Symbian developers from all over the globe are invited to create Nokia N8-compatible apps and games for the US market.
Because even the most powerful hardware currently available on the market can’t hold a candle to what Marvel just announced. So unless you want to start seriously hating your current smartphone I suggest you stop reading now.
No, I’m kidding, of course, read further down for more info.
HTC was only unveiled recently. Now we get to see a 7-minute promo video of the new smartphone as an appetizer before you actually get to play with it in the store.
The HTC Desire HD is the GSM version of the US-dwelling HTC Evo 4G. It runs on Android 2.2 with the latest Sense UI and it’s got a 4.3 inches of touchscreen and 8 megapixels worth of a camera that sports 720p video recording.
Oh, boy, is this year’s Photokina good! Panasonic is the next big player to make a major announcement at the interchangeable lens camera front. The Panasonic DMC-GH2 belongs to the Micro Four Thirds gang and packs a new 18MP multi-aspect sensor, which produces 16MP shots.
The Panasonic GH2 also offers full HD video capture and manual video shooting controls plus a sweet 460k dot tilt-and-swivel 3-inch touchscreen with smoother Live View thanks to the doubled live stream framerate.
At the start of Photokina show Sigma announced their new SD1 flagship DSLR. And by the looks of it, it might be the next big thing in photography. Packing a new 46 MP APS-C Foveon sensor the camera promises to deliver so much detail that you’ll never be temped to look back.
